Stuff moves fast. This 2019 study feels dated, given the 2021 study further testing the effects of fasting vs. calorie restriction. The conclusion of the 2021 study is that fasting drives the benefits, and calorie restriction without it leads to frailty and muscle loss.

In this 2019 study, although the fasting + CR mice live longer, given their fasting period is 21 hours vs 11 hours for the fasting only mice, the result is consistent with fasting period being the main driver.
