regarding applying cream post shave, what's the reasoning to cold water ebfore cream? so it won't mess up your pores?

I always heard hot water before/during shave and cold water after shave. Not sure why.

Pores?

Yeah, the general argument I've always seen dealt with decreasing pore size and increasing hydration.

..and cold water slows down the bleeding thus reducing the total number of "little bits of tissue paper" you have to stick on. This second stage leads to its own problem of "when to take the bits off" - take them off too early you carry on bleeding, leave them on too long and it's like pulling a tiny piece of your face off.

I shave electric.
