Ha! The honeymoon couldn't last forever! No Cream will suit everyone, that's why there's so many (that and the fact that most people don't know the first thing about the science that is skincare).

The base cream from SA is made thick so it can support some of the actives (such as DMAE) that can thin out the cream, it has to be thick so that it's all things to all men (or more commonly women). I believe and presume Juvess use less hyaluronic acid, which makes the mix thinker and (provided water is available from out side or your body) could be why you find it more hydrating (SA).

Someone shoot me down but I remember Hannah over at SA saying that HA causes the skin to hold/draw 20x it's own mollecular weight of water in the epidermis. (bang)

Just to show I'm not biased, my wife tried it the other night (she thinks I'm turning into a right pansy! But I can tell it's driven by the secret fear that she's going to look older and I will soon look in my teens) and she didn't find it moisturised nearly enough, also she actually gained a few red patches which I suspect were a reaction to the Carnosine or perhaps another of the actives.

Personally I think it’s a very good cream but everyone is different. If like my wife you react badly, then drop it. If however you just need to customise it to your skin type (like Zoo adding rosehip oil etc and me adding EGF and other bits) as it’s easier to add than take away ingredients.

Also bear in mind that one of the number one recommendations that I and others have come away from this recent concentration on skin health is to wear a sunscreen ALL the time. Once you have put on a sunscreen (especially 30+) you really don’t need a heavy, greasy or thick moisturiser which makes Juvess ideal.

Gzus another Blip-vert!

Just my take, I’m not a doctor or even a woman but I’m hurtling towards 40 and I’ve decided to put the brakes on.

I have been washing my face with a salycilic acid and benzoyl peroxide wash for over 4 years with amazing results. Can I use this cream?

You can use the cream but I would separate the application of them, such as Juvess in the morning and salycilic acid/benzoyl peroxide at night.

Juvess Support

Benzoyl peroxide is in my opinion toxic pro-aging skincare, good against acne but a promoter of free radicals. Benzoyl peroxide depletes antioxidants in human keratinocytes (PMID: 11522381 ) and is a tumor promoter in mice studies (PMID: 17516861 ). I feel the same about another compund, hydrogen peroxide, sometimes used in mouthwashes and skincare. These are in vitro experimental studies but I would nonetheless advise you to use retinoids instead of benzoyl peroxide.

Retinoids are the most potent topicals against acne and aging skin (tazarotene most comedolytic, better against acne than tretinoin) and the basis of any acne and/or anti-aging skincare regime.

There´s no reason to use a compound toxic to human skin cells when there´s more effective products with the added bonus of anti-aging activity. You can add a salicylic acid face wash if you can tolerate it.

Benzoyl peroxide is a free-radical generating compound widely used in the polymer industry and also in pharmaceuticals as antimicrobial agent to treat acne. However, benzoyl peroxide causes irritation and contact dermatitis in about 1% of patients. Concern over the use of this compound is motivated by the demonstration that it can also act as skin tumor promoter in mice. In addition, benzoyl peroxide induces DNA strand breaks in many cells, including keratinocytes. Benzoyl peroxide toxicity is presumably mediated by the formation of reactive free radicals and by the consumption of intracellular antioxidants.

PMID: 15122653

Another experimental study on BP that shows adverse effect (increased radical formation) of added alpha-tocopherol. You can find many more on pubmed.
PMID: 16753842 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

Unfortunately, the BP wash that I use is the ONLY thing that I have found that keeps my acne at bay.

I'm a bit out-of-date on the latest in acne-fighting trends. Can you provide me with more information on these "retinoids"?

Would it be a major transition for me? FWIW, my combo of SA and BP washes work great and do not leave my skin dry and are extremely quick and effecient, ei; no topicals to apply.

I have naturally dry skin and Juvess doesn't seem to help at all. After a good amount of juvess i have to apply a base cream from skinactives to fully moisturize my face. I'm not sure why I need another application from a cream that has the exact ingredient as juvess base. skinactives and juvess both use these ingredient as their base: hyaluronic acid and jojoba, avocado, sweet almond, and sesame oils.

I was hoping to find an all in one face cream that moisturizes and has anti aging properties.

Sorry to hear that. We try to find a combination that works for the most people (slightly oily or dry) but it looks like Las Vegas is too demanding for it. As Sentinel said, you may be able to tweak it with some oils to help with the moisturization. If you feel disappointed enough with the cream for a refund, just send me a PM and we can get that rolling.

Well, got my order quit fast (7 day elapsed, and i live in western europe) and have used the cream. I find it not moisturizing at all an i will have to combine it perhaps as well as facing some challenge to combine it with my retinoid usage schedule :-) but so far no adverse reactions and will hand out one to a friend. So cream seems fine, service is good. Can recommend it so far :-).

i think the skin cream is excellent.

after shaving, i then put on a cheap non alcoholic toner and while the skin is still wet from the toner, i put on the cream. i get a very good moisturising effect and the bonus is that it cools my skin after the shave. fantastic stuff.

my sister who is an esthetician and who ran a beauty therapy clinic for 15yrs remarked "my god, look at your skin - what the hell are you using?". needless to say, i felt pretty good  ive given her a jar because of that compliment!

Curious Sle - I'm using a retinoid too and just use the juvess in the morning so as not to have a cross over with the copper peptides. But the thing I find useful is that because juvess is not over moisturising, it works quite well with the post-retinoid morning routine because you have to put on a high SPF cream that is usually pretty greasy/moisturising. If that babble makes sense

Sentinel: definitely makes sense... what i struggle with is that i usually use retinoids in my before-going-to-bed routine which is roughly midnight so i don't get like 12 hours from/to last/next applying juvess. sheesh, Will have to get myself to do it at 8pm (then again in summer there is still plenty day left plus i am not really always home by 8, rather not very often.) i wonder how stricly important the 12 hours would be. I guess every other day alternating is plenty easier.

JUVESS SUGGESTION: Add-ons options

1. Anti-oxidant booster
2. Extra lipophillic (lipids) compounds.

These would both be great for people with dry skin. Number 2 perhaps not that good for people with oily skin

What sort of an anti-oxidant booster would one add and how much of it? Where would you buy it from?

Thanks!

You can buy Rosehip Oil or an Antioxidant Booster from skinactives.com. They also have a lipid only antioxidant booster called ELS

thanks Zoo.

wasn't even aware the website existed. i'm thinking of buying the following including the ones that you mentioned and add them all into the Juvess cream:

Antioxidant Booster
CoQ10 powder
Hyaluronic Acid
Rosehip Oil

Have i gone too far with this, should I cut back or purchase other ingredients? will there be any reactions with the other ingredients in the Juvess cream?

Many thanks for your advice and help.

The Juvess cream already has CoQ10 and Hyaluronic acid in it. I would consider buying either the Pumpkin enzyme peel or the alpha-beta exfoliation kit instead.

Oh yes and instead of the antioxidant booster I would buy the ELS serum. It pretty much contains everything that the antioxidant booster contains and more.

Consider keeping your lipid products in the fridge. That way they will last longer

I've been using Juvess the last few weeks too (thanks Mitkat) and have I mixed feelings. It does make my skin feel tight and smooth and the formulation sounds promising in terms of long term benefits, but like a few of you I don't feel that it's moisturizing enough.

I'm concerned about using it in conjunction with a couple of things: Firstly, my usual facewash contains vitamin C. After reading this thread I'm realizing this might not be a good match. I've started using Alpha Hydrox instead. Secondly, I swim regularly. Do I need to worry about using Juvess after exposing my skin to chlorine, even if I wash my face between?

My biggest concern is the tingling sensation, sometimes even stinging sensation, I feel when applying it. Is this normal? This happens regardless of which facewash I use or whether or not I've been in the pool.

Due to customer demand, we are currently working on the formulation of a Juvess cream that will be more moisturizing than the current formula for those with dry skin or in harsh environment. Hopefully, we will have it ready by the second week of January.

No worries/contraindications here.

The tingling sensation is normal and is mostly caused by the jojoba oil. The stinging sensation may be due to the copper peptides. Does the stinging also come with a heating sensation on the surface of your skin? Also, did the stinging happen before you started the Alpha Hydrox, as it can cause tingling and stinging as well?

sorry to ïntrude, just wanted to point out that the Alpha Hydrox facewash does NOT contain alpha hydroxy acid as the rest of the brands products. It´s an AHA-free face wash so it shouldn´t cause stinging because of that (but some other ingredient might). It contains citric acid to regulate pH.

The stinging happens regardless of the facewash I use, both before and after starting with the Alpha Hydrox. I wouldn't say there's any heating sensation, no. It lasts only a moment and is certainly not intensely painful, but strange in that I've never used a cream that gave me that feeling nor considered my skin to be "sensitive."

We have the same skin care routine, and pretty much the same irritation. I've been using retinoids pretty steadily however and figured the irritation was from that....I think zoo said he had a very minor irritation post-shaving? That being said, it's a very minor detail and Juvess is a superior product regardless, like sophistikat said. :thumb:

Mitkat and Sophistikat, I am glad to hear it is nothing serious. We kept the cream to ingredients that are not likely to cause allergic reactions and whatnot. If anyone does have an allergic reaction, and not just mild irritation, they should discontinue use immediately. With that being said, copper peptides can be slightly irritating at first but the skin will get used to it.

So far I have been told that it works well on stretch marks, chapped lips, under makeup, etc. Once we have the extra moisturizing Juvess, we will be better satisfying everyone's needs. Then we can focus on bringing other desirables to market.

I was very impressed with not only how Juvess soaked into my skin, but how it enabled me to remove the normal build up of dead skin. I could clean my face in my regular manner, which I always thought removed dead skin--but then use Juvess and find that more would come off. This process was quite mesmerizing to me it was as if I was shedding a layer of skin and my skin would emerge from underneath, fresh and new.

I used mine for 4 weeks, but then gave it to my mother who wanted to try it. I'm waiting to hear from her what her experiences are, she has always been into 'high end' skin care (she and my mother-in-law, are both that way). I'll update when I find out more.

I'm glad to hear their will be a extra moisturizing Juvess, I'd like to try that one--I'd put on a different moisturizer sometimes after using Juvess since it soaked into my skin too well . One reason I've never been much into lotions and skin care products is that I have very sensitive skin (so do my red-headed children). I can only use hypoallergenic products, I noticed at first that my skin was irritated by Juvess, and hoped it would go away--it did seem to lessen over my test period--but after reading this thread I can see why. Will there also be a hypoallergenic version?

All that being said, I love how Juvess made my skin feel tight and fresh. I have recommended it to my friends and family, and will continue to do so--I am glad the line will expand. I feel good about supporting life extension, while also treating myself to a high end product--all within a price I can fit into the budget.

Yes, that is something we can do quite easily. We will add it as an option to choose when we upgrade our site this month.

I've been using the stuff for a few weeks now and must say I'm very pleased with it. I have no problems with the (lack of) moisturising, I like the current texture on my face that it produces.

2 weeks ago I also started tretinoin at night which causes some irritation and red spots. So the overall good texture (yes, even with my face ;) ) diminishes a bit as a result of that. I need to find a good balance for the use of the tretinoin.... Currently I use it once every two nights, the Juvess about every morning, with a "resting" day about every 3 or 4 days or so. Just seemed to be reasonable but I do not have a good rationale for it actually.

yeah you should never mix GHK copper peptides with acidic compounds.

I wanted to check this myself, but cannot find the time: What about the Hyaluronic Acid / copper peptides combination in this regard?

What about the Hyaluronic Acid / copper peptides combination in this regard?

The hyaluronic acid in Juvess is stabilized so it can handle being at a PH that does not cause a reaction with the copper. The main concern is using very acidic products with Juvess or adding them after-market.

I just got some a few days ago. I'm running an experiment- Juvess on the right side of my face and a decent moisturizer on the left side. I'm doing this nightly, and will evaluate in about a month or maybe longer. Anyone have a suggestion as to how long it might take to see results? Zoo, you liked it after a few weeks, right?

OK, it's about time I report on this experiment. I've used Juvess on the right half of my face and Complex 15, a moisturizer recommended by my dermatologist, on the left side, for two and a half months now. I applied each product before going to bed. Subjectively, I like the feel of Juvess. As a moisturizer, I find it to be just right. I noticed the slight stinging sensation at first, although I don't notice it now. I was not really sure what to expect of it, and for the first month or so I really didn't notice any difference between the two sides of my face.

What I did not see: I've seen no difference in fine lines, apparent photoaging, pore size, coloration, texture, or anything else I can think of, except...

What I did see: It looks like I got a mini facelift on the right side of my face! It's kind of subtle, and I didn't notice it for the first month or so. I was really looking at texture, coloration, and the like, and didn't even think to look at contours until one day I read something about copper peptides that suggested they might have such an effect. Once I looked for it, I saw it, and IMHO, it's a significant improvement. I've continued the experiment for the past month or so to see if the effect gets more pronounced. I'm not sure it's changed since then but it's still there. BTW, at 51, I'm old enough that a facelift might actually do something useful. I don't know what effect any given skin treatment would have on a twenty-something, but we're all different, so YMMV.

Starting today, I'm switching from Complex 15 (just a moisturizer) on the left side to Neutrogena Visibly Firm, a copper peptide with a sunscreen in a moisturizer base. My main reason for using this is because I know someone in the industry and can get it ridiculously cheap. It will also serve to somewhat split out the effect of the copper peptides from the other ingredients in Juvess, though formulation subtleties may also have an effect.

I like the split face experiments; it's like doing a controlled clinical trial without needing other people. I can't really think of a better way to optimize a skincare regimen.

Are you sure the differences between the both sides haven't been there all along? I have similar differences due to the fact that I always sleep on one side, causing this side of my face to be a little more creased...

That's a good question. I actually considered that possibility, and wished that I had thought about it before I started. I would still have to say I don't think that was a factor. Eventually I intend to get my face back to a state of symmetry; if I can't do that then I would have to rethink my conclusions. I usually sleep on my stomach, and think that I probably compress both sides of my face about the same.

Anyone used the Juvess cream? Any results? Ingredients look decent.

I have been using Juvess cream for about two months now on my face. I really recommend it, it makes my skin look healthier and softer. I really like the stuff, will definitely buy some more once my supply runs out. However, if you only use it on your face, one bottle will probably last you a year. Great cream!

Oh, and regarding the moisturizing aspect that some people mention, I actually would not want the cream to be any more moisturizing. I want it to absorb into the skin fast so that my skin does not feel like damp, or if I apply it before bed, I don't want it to rub off all over my pillow. So I would say that the formulation is fine as it is.
