Chungenhung has posted a request for VGA terminators, here:

http://www.imminst.o...&...st&p=250620

These are devices that can mimick a monitor connected to a VGA port. Folders are now desiring to have multiple GPUs in a single computer system. Multiple GPUs can allow huge increases in PPD. But, either the hardware or the Operating System wants to see a monitor connected to all GPU ports. This is not very practical when two or more GPUs are in use.

Currently, I do not know of a commercial source for these devices. But, the dummy terminator can be made from an empty VGA connector with some resistors soldered in it.

I have volunteered to make these for TLM team members, here:

http://www.imminst.o...&...st&p=250778

Chungenhung requested a quantity of eight.

Anyone who is planning to build a system with multiple GPUs may need these terminators.

Please post here with your anticipated needs, so that the components can be obtained (probably ordered) all at once.

One of our fellow members said he can make some Dummy VGA connectors.
Now we need to know who all will be needing it, so he can make them at once and mail it out.

Yea, probably ...

I'm not worried, my mommy already told me I wasn't retarded.

Put me down for two anyway.

Will do.

Frenchhorn1, I laugh everytime I think of your Top Twelve acceptance speech.

Connectors and resistors are on order for the Terminators (dummy VGA port loads).

It will be a few days before receipt of the parts, but go ahead and send me your addresses.

Will try expedite the assembly and mailing them out to you.

Update on VGA Terminators:

Received the Internet-ordered resistors yesterday (quantity=100).

This should be enough to cover immediate needs.

Still haven't received the 15-pin D-connectors, they were ordered separately. Hopefully the connectors will arrive soon.

If you haven't alreeady provided a mail address, go ahead and do so.

I had a terminator once.

He resembled a popular modern day governor. I asked him to go back in time to before the big nuclear holocost of '97, and eliminate the "connor resistance leaders", but that dumbtard dun got blowed up ta pieces.

I guess you get what you pay for...

Good news.

The VGA connectors came in last evening. So, have some of the 'things' assembled.

I checked engineering handbook here for the pinout numbering, and set up the assembly line.

Here are the results:

And a close up (magnified 3-4 times actual size):

Terminator_cl.JPG

This evening will verifiy resistance of every pin and ensure no shorts or open connections.

My computers have internal video so don't think I can actually verify functionality.

Tomorrow, will ship them out to you TLM Folding guys.

I recommend first trying only one, if it works fine then go ahead and use all the others.

If anyone wants to make these, this site here is a good reference.
