BJ and Mind are both born in USA. unlike mccain born in panama and obama w/ no proof.

Bruce is actually the president of some company, and Mind is a community organizer that runs the executive branch of a multi-cultural, international org that's bigger than the 7,000 population of Wasilla, Alaska.

Bruce Klein looks like Todd Palin and has the same # of letters in his name as Sarah Palin.

Mind also possess at least Palin's bachelar's degree (she has a B.S. in something right? sports-caster for Wasilla TV station?) Palin looks at past scores, Mind can predict the future .... of weather and other things

Yes we will! We will live, survive, and thrive!

I doubt there will be enough acceptance of extreme life extension by 2012 for Bruce, myself, or most people affiliated with Imminst, MF, H+, SIAI, etc... to run for prez. Maybe in 2016.

I was surprised to see that you doubt there will be enough acceptence. but then I realized that my thought on that has really changed in the last year or so. With all of Aubreys media appearences, the success of the mprize, the release of the book, the activity of imminst, the onset of the cracking of the pro aging trance, talk of exponential growth and witnessing it, I find myself in a position now where Im thinking that we are going to break the meme into the full blown main stream any time now. I would give it about 2 years.

So you might want to start brushing up on your politics because we might be pushing you for president.

Yes We Will! Obama says he got the idea while sitting on a porch, and not because he's a puppet cooked up by the big fish in backrooms filled with cigar smoke.

There's a political party called The Boston Tea Party, and their party's entire platform has one line: "Reduce gov. at every level" and the Tea Party fields a candidate for 2008: Knapp.

We can form the "Immortal Party", "Everlasting Party" or the Eternal Party, political party of life-extensionists. Even if getting only 0.000001% of vote, hundreds of millions of ppl will see the message, party-line, platform out there on BALLOT .

2012 (Or the Year of post-singularity 0002, 0002, P.S. ) VOTING CARD/TICKET
Dem: Obama
Rep: Palin
Lib: Ron Paul
Green: Ralph Nadar
Tea: Knapp
Imm: Running mates: Klein and Mind

I took the liberty to write our founding philosophy below:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We hold the Eternal Right to Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Immortality (........Omitted 10,000 words here, basically Aubrey De Grey's Ending Aging.... )

"Eternal existence of the humans, by the humans, for the Post-humans that shall NOT perish from The Universe!!! (nor from baby life-boat universes born thereafter) "
--------------------------- ---------------- ----------------- The Declaration of Immortality---

Hyp86, I have to ask: are you joking or is this a serious proposition?

I have a Kurzweil for President 2045 mug in my cabinet, and I think even that is a bit too early for common acceptance of transhumanist let alone extreme life extensionist views :) but it is cute and my kids like it. I also don't think we'll be letting anyone run under an alias anytime soon :)

Uh...

I hate to break it to you, but um, we're still very much a fringe movement both socially and in corporate circles (I know enough folks in the NYC corporate scene who label the movement as one filled with crazies).

I think we should forget the politics, and focus on positive PR. Small, non-threatening, mainstream steps. Stuff that shows, for instance, that life-extension research also helps the general health and welfare of the citizenry of the world. As it is, the movement is often thought of as incredibly narcissistic/selfish (a view I sometimes share when I consider some of the positions held by the community). So until life-extension can merge its long-term goals with the desires of the mainstream public (they are much more worried about financial security, basic health care, etc), the political arena is a pipe dream. And no, I am sorry, living forever is not not a desire of the mainstream public, not in any real way; most consider it a fantasy.

Of course I was joking. well... at least half-joking.

Bruce Klein and Mind for Prez doesn't seem crazy when you think that in today's political scene: celebrities are running for offices, entertainment and politics are blurred.

Movie stars, porn-stars, criminals, hockey moms are becoming Governors (ex: arnold, palin), comedians and clowns are becoming mayors and senators (think Al Franken, whose sole purpose is to do a "quickie impeachment" on Bush). A hundred years ago, the communist Eugene Debs ran for Prez from a jail, under an alias, and got 4 MILLION Votes.

In 2020: One Prez candidate may claim political experience as playing POTUS in two different movies, while another may say his experience is guest-starring in The West Wing.

I think your intention is to undermine the legitimacy of an African American as President (if a black can be president then so can anyone) - right?

i have no such intention. i respect obama. like him 10 times better than mccain. after reserach and investigation on my own, i think we can believe he really was born in hawaii. i see that as more legitimate than mccain born in panama canal zone area, on ship
