As promising as Indole-3-carbinol seems to be as an antioxidant, it also lowers estrogen levels. I don't think it would be a good idea to include a nutrient with direct hormonal effects in a multivitamin intended for regular people.

Can't believe i wrote Indole-3-Carbinol lol Beta-Carotene was what i meant. Indole-3-Carbinol can be good but not as much as replacing Vitamin A with Beta-Carotene.

Lol. That's quite a difference between the two.

Alot of people here are squeemish about high amounts of beta carotene for good reason. I was a skeptic as those studies that showed a large increase in lung cancer in smokers all used sythetic carotene derived from benzene rings, but I don't think that was the full cause.

I'm in favor of splitting the dose between retinol and beta carotene, ensuring that the both of them add up to 5k IU at the greatest, with retinol being the lower of the two in amount (40/60)

Studies? I know the Thread Starter wasn't talking about Indole-3-Carbinol, but I'm curious; I've heard that Indole transforms into other forms when absorbed by the body, and DIM id the only form that has supposed hormonal effects, and therefore better to supplement with. I've also heard that neither of them do anything...

???
