totally confused with so many different types available. some claim better than others. even "scary" studies / fancy graphs by metacurcumin.

NovaSOL
Longvida
Theracurcumin
Meriva
BCM-95
MetaCurcumin

so which one to get?

To add another one to the list, how about fermented turmeric like the centenarians in okinawa consume?  From what I understand, much of the benefits from curcumin stem from it's effects at the gut biome level rather than your spike in blood serum concentration.

MetaCurcumin apparently boasts it's absorption benefits. But when it comes to actual effects or efficacy on health or cognition, that's where it goes quite.

It seems that Longvida still reigns in 2018.

Here's another formulation and my personal favorite, whey protein isolate bound curcumin, UltraCur. It passes through the intestinal wall as protein and releases it's cucumin.

what do you want to use it for? the best and most expensive version is still that, a herbal thing that wont do anything significant. from all the people i met taking it were always gullible old people who think it will prevent cancer or help with their pain. none of which ive heard helped with, but they are persistent and so are the companies selling it. ive heard FDA warned some companies to stop making false advertisements on it. i sure hope someone takes control of the situation. its completely immoral to advertise it for major things like pain and depression and disease prevention since all the studies are of questionable value, mainly animals and cell lines

now that you have read about that warning regarding curcumin, you can freely browse through this piece discussing massive scam and adulteration when it comes to the products sold with it; http://cms.herbalgra...e70b5969233085d

I'm pretty sure there's a lot of older people who would actually appreciate a 30% improvement in memory from this double blind placebo study on humans -

ive read this one before. from what i remembered we were discussing it on reddit while ago that it was financed by the company that produces Theracurmin which is pretty obvious because the government is not going to bother with finances sponsoring a brand name product lol isnt that obvious? usually from other studies i gathered Indian government does sponsor turmeric studies, but not brand name products, its turmeric as whole

On paper, I like Meriva as a source of choline + bioavailable curcumin.  That said, I'm currently taking Meriva and it might as well be silicon dioxide / cellulose filled placebo capsules.  Theracurmin looks awesome, but it's also seemingly underdosed in all the supplement forms I've found... 30-60 milligrams is a pretty common dose.

Longvida seems to win based on bioavailability + adequate dosage (closer to 500mg.)  I'm partial to the Nordic Naturals version that bundles Longvida dissolved into fish oil (in theory, curcumin boosts DHA uptake into the brain, so there should be synergy.)

So alternatively, take longvida powder with fish oil.

Looks promising for Theracurcumin:

“These results suggest that taking this relatively safe form of curcumin could provide meaningful cognitive benefits over the years,” said Small, UCLA’s Parlow–Solomon Professor on Aging.

The curcumin analog EF24 is a novel senolytic agent, not commercially available yet though, AFAIK.

Cellular senescence is a hallmark of aging because senescent cells (SCs) accumulate with aging and play a causative role in age-related diseases. Selectively eliminating SCs has been emerging as a new strategy for treating age-related diseases and extending healthspan. Curcumin and its analogs have some anti-aging activities. However, the mechanisms of their action have not been fully elucidated. In the present study, we investigated whether various curcumin analogs can function as a senolytic agent. The results from our studies show that among these curcumin analogs EF24 is the most potent and broad-spectrum senolytic agent. Mechanistically, EF24 selectively kills SCs by inducing SC apoptosis in a reactive oxygen species (ROS) production independent manner but associated with an increase in the proteasome degradation of the Bcl-2 anti-apoptotic protein family proteins known to play an important role in protecting SCs from apoptosis. In addition, EF24 can synergistically kill SCs with ABT-263, a Bcl-2 and Bcl-xl inhibitor and a known senolytic agent. These findings provide new insights into the mechanisms by which curcumin analogs function as an anti-aging agent and suggest that the curcumin analog EF24 has the potential to be used as a novel senolytic agent for the treatment of age-related diseases.

Memory and Brain Amyloid and Tau Effects of a Bioavailable Form of Curcumin in Non-Demented Adults: A Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled 18-Month Trial Highlights

- This is the first long-term (18 months) double-blind, placebo controlled trial of a bioavailable form of curcumin (Theracurmin® containing 90 mg of curcumin twice daily) in non-demented adults.

            - We found that daily oral Theracurmin led to significant memory and attention benefits.

- FDDNP-PET scans performed pre- and post-treatment suggested that behavioral and cognitive benefits are associated with decreases in plaqueand tangle accumulation in brain regions modulating mood and memory.

            - Curcumin's cognitive benefits may stem from its anti-inflammatory and/or anti-amyloid brain effects.

Anyone heard about curcumin nano-micelle?

http://oppornet.com/table/33

The active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) of SinaCurcumin is curcumin and it has been extracted from turmeric. The API is loaded inside the carriers made of nano-  missiles. Anti-inflam- mation, anti-oxidant, and anti-tumor are among the most important prop- erties of curcumin. This drug can be used as a complementary medicine in many diseases. The capsule can be used in the treatment of various diseases such as joint diseases, intestine in- flammation diseases, fatty liver, cataract, some skin diseases, lipid adjustment, reduction of cholesterol, thinning of the blood, Alzheimer’s, and controlling convulsion and Parkinson’s. Curcumin capsule can be effective in cancer pre- vention too due to its anti-proliferation properties. Curcumin is not actually adsorbed by the body since it is insoluble in water, but it solubility in blood increases in nanometric scale, and it modifies the sorption.
