Specifically for apathy like problems.

I have noticed that metadoxine which is known for its ability to induce ADH/ALDH was also trialed for inattentive ADHD (though it seem to have failed). Now panax ginseng (korean red ginseng) also induces ALDH/ADH and this has an effect on serotonin metabolism in its catabolic breakdown and indirectly seems to influence endorphins.

FYI: I believe my brain (Aspergers) is stuck in a high endorphin state. The ability to experience joy seems remarkably reduced in myself, but the day after an alcohol binge (during which all serotonin and endorphins are depleted) I become completely normal.

In fact sulforaphane (also known to have an effect in ASD) also seems to influence endogenous opioids and has an impact on ALDH/ADH.

Also plant chemicals that are mixed mu/kappa/delta antagonists/agonists I seem to have a lot of success with.
