Here is an interesting discussion. Religious people are wondering about end-of-life care for the increasing numbers of lonely elderly around the world. The numbers of people with no living relatives or guardians is expected to climb. If they do not have a legal advanced directive in place, who will make the decision about end-of-life care? https://aleteia.org/...without-family/

Complicating this factor over the next decade (before robust rejuvenation therapies arrive, there will be increasingly effective life support systems to keep a person (body/brain) "minimally" alive. How long do you keep them on life support, especially when rejuvenation tech/therapies are clearly on the horizon?

Life is more than just what supplements you take.  We don't even know what life is.  Take all the supplements yoy know of, mix them up and you still do not have life,  Who ends up in control of your life is one of life"s greatest questions.

You may write a written consent for your wish until you are still young and with your brain. In which circumstances you want your plug to be pulled. My personal decision - no pulling. Brainless shitted decomposing in bed but alive. Fight to the very end. And after the death - cryopreservation.

Wh0 has a right to pull your plug when we do not even know what life is?  Does this extend to the entirety of life?  Is there any time when the ignorant  can decide to pull the plug?

According to the biology everything living (the life) is made of cells. The cells are made of organelles and macro molecules. There are criteria with things that something must have in order to be named alive.

This should be enough knowledge about what life is, when it is up to pulling the plug.

Society has said that not only can we pull the plug, but we can actively terminate healthy and sentient human beings because they are physically attached to a biological mother by an umbilical cord. I am all for reproductive rights, like the right to use birth control, but reproductive rights end once life is created... Reproduction has occurred at that point! Now we are talking about termination rights and the right to terminate human life.

several of these posts are inconstant.  What is life, when does it start scientifically and who has a right to pull the plug?

What is life?  We do not know.  The rest of this is just personel views.  Stick to science which can't answer this question.

I'd say life is an artifact of a quantum universe. We have hardly any visibility into that experience currently and so, we don't even have words [yet] to adequately answer the question. What we do have is flawed answers. But there seems to be no doubt that at the core, at the infinitesimally small scale of our body's chemistry and magic of life, the answer is there waiting.

To the OP's difficult question. Ideally the individual makes the decision beforehand. Alternatively, society has to come up with at least one answer that becomes a default for those that don't take responsibility for themselves. Colorado has this in place, a 3-tier approach, as mentioned in the linked article.

Many baseless assumptions but I agree it is best to make such decisions before hand.  Also I agree there is an answer regarding certain aspects of life but until we can answer why there is something such as life rather than nothing we will have a hard time with Minds question.  Values are not solved by science.  I will post my answer to his question but it won't satisfy everyone.
