One of the most active cryonics discussion groups is new_cryonet on yahoo groups. However, yahoo has just recently announced they'll be terminating many features, and thus there is discussion of migrating the list elsewhere.

 

New_cryonet has been pretty laissez-faire as far as moderation/censorship. Another alternative is /r/cryonics on reddit, which has public mod logs, and leaves removal reasons and notifications for any content that is removed, and mostly only moderates to maintain high quality.

 

We, on new_cryonet, are wondering how the policies here compare. I have looked through the FAQ https://www.longecit...faq-please-read, but am still not entirely sure.

One thing I notice is that topic titles here have a significantly lower character limit than reddit (and thus might not be able to contain a full title of a study for example). I see that this forum has tagging capability, similar to reddit, which is nice. Reddit's wiki system isn't that big of a loss as it can be migrated to another site like github.

Ah, I notice that editing or deleting of posts/comments is not possible, and that it automatically shortens urls with a "..." in the middle, which is not ideal for copy-pasting.

 

Also, your user agreement and bylaws page/link in the FAQ is not working.

The moderation here is laissez-fair.

 

Members can be set-up to moderate discussions that they create.

they also have limit of how much content you can bring to each thread. i overdid it and i was banned for few days. im not sure how to keep track of how much and what is right or wrong on this forum. very strict and weird place. too many glitches in most of its forum options
