I'm thinking of getting a kg of NMN powder from a manufacturer in China and having it independently tested by a lab. My question is what sort of a test should they do if I wish to confirm the COA supplied by the manufacturer?

Also how long will NMN powder last if stored in the fridge or freezer?

A recent human trial failed to show benefit from NMN supplementation.

You are misrepresenting or misunderstanding the trial.

How can a study fail to show benefit when it was not designed to do so?

The study you posted was a one-time single dose safety study of oral NMN. It was ONE PILL. It didn´t look at long-term efficacy of anything. Those studies are yet to be published.

"A single-arm non-randomized intervention was conducted by single oral administration of 100, 250, and 500 mg NMN."

They only looked at SAFETY:

"The single oral administration of NMN was safe and effectively metabolized in healthy men without causing any significant deleterious effects."

According to Dr. Sinclair's recent interview, NMN must be refrigerated otherwise it will quickly break down. He doesn't say how long it will last when cooled, but presumably a long time since he claims to have a bunch in his basement.

Futhermore, he states there is probably a threshold dose one much go over before it has any effect due to the body's clearance mechanisms.  Some studies showed effectiveness of NMN at 200mg/kg in mice.  The minimum HED could be somewhere around 1000-1250mg / day.

I retract this comment and regret posting it hastily without careful reading.

Dr. Sinclair in his latest video, stated that he takes 1 gram NMN + 1 gram Resveratrol as a NMN booster daily.   The Jap study and most others do not administer high enough doses  You need a high dose in order to get the NAD precursor out of the liver and into the rest of the body.   NMN discussion starts around 50 min. into video.

You would want confirmation of purity by HPLC as well as identity by LC-MS.    It would probably be good to get a heavy metal screen as well.

At a minimum I would get this:
