Help! Stress and lack of sleep (they seem to go hand in hand) has manifested itself with a nasty outbreak of shingles. I am very fearful it is heading towards my eye. Any thoughts on how to stop this viral eruption?

get a prescription for valtrex. start taking lysine supplements.
dont pick them, becuz it will leave a permanent scab/scar.

Put a compress with apple cider vinegar. Also during an outbreak Lysine must be taken in high amounts to work (several grams/day, and even above 10 g). You might also try aspirin, red marine algae, BHT, and coconut oil/monolaurin.

Thanks for the replies. I will give some of those things a shot.
I had been taking one gram of Lysine. Looks like I need to bump that up.
I was also wondering if anyone knows of any supplements to avoid while this is going on?

There is a 1% penciclovir cream sold as Denavir. It's primarily used for cold sores (HSV1). I'm pretty sure that it's available OTC now, so you might be able to get it for less than an arm and a leg. All the herpes drugs seem to be expensive. If you treat it systemically with something like Valtrex, treatment is supposed to start within 72 hours of eruption.
