Hi there everyone,

Most of you know about Ginkgo Biloba and alot of people say it is ineffective and Ive read some articles quoting studies which found Ginkgo Biloba ineffective and has no beneficial effect on memory whatsoever.

However, the ginkgo biloba in the studies and what most people are taking is either an inferior product or just Ginkgo Biloba Leafs or plant material. Ginkgo biloba powder may not do anything, but a special standardized extract of Ginkgo does.

This special Extract is Patented and called Egb 761. I will now share the studies that prove the efficacy of this Extract.

I have found Tebonin (Ginkgo Biloba Egb 671) on amazon for £39.99 for 30 Tablets with £25 delivery, so thats £65 for 30 Capsules. So its pretty expensive. This is the link : Egb 671 Amazon. I bought 30 Tablets a while ago and i felt an improvement in Cognition within 2 weeks.

Without delivery fees it would cost about £40 in the u.k.
Post your thoughts, and also any stores to buy this from.

Please Dont Quote my post so i can edit it. Thanks.

Thanks for the study references , thats easy to navigate.

I can put my 2 cents in, i bought some from a U.K Supplier just over a week ago,
i bought them at £11 for 30 Capsules which is like £50 cheaper than the ones on amazon.
and i also got 90 for £24 a few days ago,

I felt an effect within a week, i just felt more relaxed and more stable even on the first day.
I feel like i can concentrate and focus on tasks easier. I love the effects. I also supplement other thing alongside the Ginkgo Extact

i got mine from http://mrnootropic.madefreshly.com/

I experienced similar results, its not a miracle substance but i have noticed great effects.
Im fairly young so i was suprised it even worked on me.

And Thanks for the link , thats really cheap . And i just Googled the product he is selling and it is legit, the one he is selling is the same used in some of them studies above. I might get some

Amazon also has the same stuff but alot more expensive. Amazon also has a Ginkgo Exract but its from Thailand and takes 21 days to be delivered. Im not waiting around that long for something lol..

Ill add the link to my post,, Thanks for that.

Wow, them studies look promising.
Ive tried Ginkgo Biloba before with no success.

I recently ordered some Noopept from that same store your talking about @andrew, my order came today, as i ran out of some i bought from mind nutrition and this one is alot less expensive and i feel more of an effect which is weird.

Anyways back on topic, i might have to try some of the special extract as it sounds promising.

It looks like Mr Nootropic has sold out of the Special Extract, and By the way, that Mr Nootropic Dude is on this forum lol.. He replied to one of my posts yesterday, ill have message him and see if hes getting more Ginkgo Extract .

Also known as EGb761, EGb-761, GBE 761, GBE 761 ONC, GBE-761, Rokan, Tanakan, Tebofortran, Tebokan or Tebonin, GinkgoGold, Quater
EGb 761 is a highly standardized Ginkgo leaf extract made and marketed by the German pharmaceutical company Dr. Willmar Schwabe GmbH & Co
EGb 761 contains 24% ginkgo flavone glycosides and has had the terpene trilactones enriched to 6% (3.1% ginkgolides A, B, C and 2.9% bilobalide) and the allergenic ginkgolic acids removed down to a few ppm.
Dr. Willmar Schwabe GmbH & Co holds United States Patent 5,399,348 and European Patent No. 0431535 B1 for the manufacturing process of the EGb 761 extract
The extract EGb 761 is commonly used in clinical tests involving Ginkgo and is also an ingredient in many herbal supplies.

"Natural substances in psychiatry (Ginkgo biloba in dementia)"
ITIL T; Martorano D
Psychopharmacology bulletin 1995 ;31(1):147-158
MEDL:7675979 #56765 Posted Image

Natural substances and/or their synthetically developed active ingredients are frequently used in medicine. In psychiatry, two of the most well known natural compounds are reserpine and Ginkgo biloba extract (EGb). EGb is among the most popular over-the-counter medicines in Europe and is also available in the United States, primarily in health food stores. Already the European medical community has recognized EGb as an effective compound in the treatment of cerebral insufficiency. In a pilot bioequivalency study, the effects of three different commercially available EGb products were examined. Findings indicated significant quantitative central nervous system (CNS) effects in, at least, one of the three. Furthermore, the CNS effects of Ginkgold were similar to other psychoactive compounds classified as cognitive activators. Recent studies in which EGb 761 demonstrated therapeutic effects in the treatment of dementia have earned EGb the approval of the German BGA (Bundesgesundheit Amt) for use in the treatment of dementia."

So according to the above, the patented ginkgo has been tested against a couple other brands. Wish we had full text access. I wonder if there is any difference between good extracts and the patented stuff, as the patented stuff is pretty expensive. Anyone tried both and noticed a difference? I have doctor's best brand around, but haven't used it yet because I've been trialing other things. I haven't used ginkgo in a really long time. Interesting thread IMO though, and I'm pretty sure the OP and the first guy to reply aren't shills, since they both posted different sources and different brands.

Ginkgo is very popular, and intelligent people know that it works. It has been used for hundreds of years, if not longer. The drug companies are trying to cast doubt on this herb by publishing rigged studies and releasing them in the media, counting on soundbite journalism, which hasn't failed them yet (and buying millions of dollars in drug ads probably helps).

So don't worry that Ginkgo is harmful or ineffective. It is neither.

Yes, ive tried the whole natural herb & powder itself and didnt notice any effects, i also took an extract i got from a health store and i noticed a mild effect if not any at all.

But with this Egb 761 Extract, i noticed a a really strong effect from the first day..
When i took 2 of them i noticed an anxiolytic, anti - anxiety effect. A sense of calm rushed over me, which is strange because im not sure if it has been studied for this effect.

So i think that Ginkgo is pretty amazing, but you need to actually get the Real Pure Substance, i take the one available on prescription and used by doctors and the same one used it the studies so i know what im getting is of high quality (its called Tanakan by Ipsen btw).

I can recommend this extract to anyone who wants to use Ginkgo in its purest form.
Ive tried various Ginkgo's for over 3 years & this one extract is my recommendation.

I agree with you 100%, and by the way, pretty much all of the studies against this herb to try and make it look ineffective and that it doesnt work are studying the whole herb or a random inferior extract.

But now when you look at studies done on Egb 761 a pure and clean extract, all of the studies prove how effective it is in memory disorders and Alzheimer's.

I just advise people to get the purest form of any herb they are taking..

Based on my experimentation, I'd agree that not all types of ginkgo are created equal.

I haven't tried anything with Egb 761, but Boots-branded ginkgo has worked well for me as a temporary focus booster. It synergizes really well with green tea, salmon oil, ALCAR and piracetam, but doesn't seem to go so well with coffee and gotu kola (increased jitteriness).

I'll try Egb 761 to see if I notice an improvement.

It would be really nice if it is as what chemicalambrosia had pointed out - the Nature's Way Gingold is actually Egb 761 (Sold as "ginkgold" by Nature's Way in USA: http://www.prnewswir...s-72596862.html). I have been taking it the entire last week and seemed to be helpful on finger circulation.

Can anyone conform that Nature's way Gingold is Egb 761?

Hey guys, thats my store lol..

@Renfr, i suggest you just buy it OTC .. This extract is available OTC in your country like you said.
usa, Germany And France are the only countries that have it ( i think). We dont have it in the U.K. Which is why get it imported.

Its impossible to get anywhere in the U.K , its a shame really.

Yeah im out of stock at the moment, i didnt know i would sell that fast.
As for International shipping i would get them from iherb like daouda said.
For U.S.A and other countries just buy from iherb.

My product is cheaper than iherb, and my delivery costs £3 with no customs,my 2nd class delivery is soon to be free.
Its 22.50 for 90 tabs, 16.50 for 60 tabs and 11.50 for 30 tabs. (My prices may lower or increase in the future depending on my suppliers prices)
If anyone in the U.K / E.U, needs any i will be stocking more very soon.

Im glad i found this topic, ive been browsing on here,
im also on twitter @Insensusuk, i post non - stop health and supplement / nootropic info.

EDIT : Oh, and the Ginkgo Extract i have is the one manufactured by Ipsen.

Yes you can buy it online but only domestic shipping is allowed. I could buy some and sell it if anyone needs it.

I took 240mg yesterday as well as today, it's too early to say if it does anything.
As for mind boosting, if there is any then it is very subtle.

Adding gotu kola which improves blood flow significantly could be worth it, I have some caps left there.

I will try it with a cold shower to improve circulation significantly.

the only bad thing, is that we in the U.K have to pay import fees, even if we buy something for dirt cheap
we have to pay maybe £15-£20 for import fee and customs etc.

i would sell it to usa maybe? i dont know.... or maybe a country that doesnt charge as much as we do for importing.
The overall cost for delivery & fees from importing from germany, france & prague was more money than the products i was ordering, it was more than double the costs of the actual products lol.

But back on topic, has anyone even experienced any effects on the whole herb??
Or from a health food store extract ??

Funny, I was thinking these last weeks about trying some Ginkgo too, but then i remembered it's probably a bad idea to do so while I'm taking Piracetam. See : http://www.longecity...-with-racetams/

By the way, is it Tanakan that you got from the pharmacy ?

It's fine to take it with piracetam, that study was in 1996 but there's another one that was made in 2000 and it debunked these claims : http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/10698362

And yes it's tanakan.

Thanks. But I'm actually more concerned about the blood thinning aspect than the MAO. I'm also taking low doses of Curcumin, and may introduce fresh Ginger everyday in my diet soon (all with potential blood thinning aspect, although maybe not as strong as Ginkgo...)

I couldnt agree more.

When you take Ginkgo, the biggest thing you should worry about is the Blood Thinning Properties. imo
I tell people not to take it with aspirin or blood thinning meds.
Some also say not to take it with SSRI'S or MAOI's ..

Always be careful, but if your not taking any meds, i would give ginkgo a try.
I eat ginger all the time and turmeric. I havent had any side effects with taking ginkgo. ( Yet)

It's fine if you only take supplements with barely significant blood thinning activity.
If you're taking blood thinning meds such as warfarin, coumadin or even aspirin then yes you should be cautious with that.

I personally take lots of fish oil, garlic, cayenne pepper, vitamin E with my ginkgo and I have no coagulation issues.
