Here is an interesting study about using leucine with a reduced dose of metformin. 

Ok it's a mouse study but I also saw a human study showing the same thing. I think

they were finding about 400mg of leucine and 125 mg metformin 3 times a day was

as effective as 500mg metformin 3 times a day for lowering blood sugar.
