Quote from new 2017 PMC article by Blagosklonny: "by reducing cellular senescence, rapamycin may be considered to prevent photo aging. Rapalogs (rapamycin and everolimus) can be used not only systemically but also topically. Rapalog-based creams are expected not to interfere with sun tanning and vitamin D3 synthesis."

Let's discuss :)

Interesting. I’m sure the folks over at the Ageless Looks subforum will appreciate the news more.

There was also a recent thread about a 100uM solution of azithromycin in vitro killing 97% of senescent fibroblasts, so my idea is to:

- First use azithromycin to kill the senescent cells

- Then use rapamycin to preserve the remaining cells

I made an azithromycin in 95% ethanol solution today and am applying it only to my left outside eye region (which is actually more wrinkled than the right for some reason) to see if there's a noticeable difference in a week.

After that I will make a 5nM solution of rapamycin and apply that. (I just happened to have both of these componds in the freezer).

But I wonder if the rapa should be applied intermittently (once a week or so) the same way it's best to dose it.

Thoughts?

There are some articles out there if you search pubmed for "topical rapamycin"

For example this study (https://www.ncbi.nlm...les/PMC3573457/) found topical sirolimus 1% to be more effective than 0.1%. It was applied nightly for 6 months.
