I saw this article https://www.newsmax....0/18/id/754044/

Makes me think the ST johns worth ive tried in the past were fake. What brand do you guys use and can you link me to the buy page?

the article says :

Those that passed include:

• Gaia Herbs St. John’s Wort Flower Buds and Tops drops
• Nature’s Way Perika St. John’s Wort tablets.
• Shaklee Moodlift Complex, capsules.
• Standard Process Mediherb St. John’s Wort tablets.

1. I guess possible to get but is liquid.... But it has hypericum not hypericin.. whats the difference??

2.  has hyperforin not hypericin

3. has other stuff in it but lasts 30 days and price is decent

4.  you need a special  paper to get this

Im probably gonna go with the first one but liquids usually taste disgusting... anyone tested this one?

Oh they got a capsules versions too... https://www.gaiaherb.../St.-Johns-Wort

The article lists the liquid that passed but not the capsules...but it is probably real too..

heres their liquid https://www.gaiaherb...lower-Buds-Tops

after reading what I've read in the past re supplements and ANYTHING with a price tag that doesn't have a strict regulation or testing before it's on the shelf -- so pretty much any and everything you buy in America with a pretty label on it --  I no longer buy most stuff.   I cannot afford the time or money to test it on my own,   and I know how much companies lie.   I don't even trust the award winning scientists behind Olaplex or Niagen,   bc they ALL stand to profit and are constantly shilling their products.   I hate being marketed to,  for some reason.   So,   I'd just say,   proceed at your own risk and hope nothing is worse for you than it should be.

In the end --  my motif is to find the original product  (e.g.  ginger ROOT,   turmeric ROOT,   grow astralagus myself --  and I am NO farmer,   can barely keep bamboo alive)   bc it's the best option.    If I could I'd make Niagen,   slaughter pigs for their brains,   steal umbilical cord from my sisters....haha

Hypericum is the genus name and perforatum is the species / scientific botanical name (ie hypericum perforatum) for St John’s Wort.  Hypericin is one compound found in St John’s Wort.

I've never had a bad batch over 20 years. I started taking it because it gives me vivid dreams when used occasionally. I might be willing to believe that worldwide there is a lot of bunk product... India, Pakistan, china. But being in the US, I have never had a bad batch.

Some of the products I have bought from IAAS has been worthless... But even there, mostly good stuff.

Perika is the best of them, as it's standardized to hyperforin. Hyperforin works as serotonin-dopamine-noradrenaline re-uptake inhibitor.

Why would I bother to have an $8.00 supplement I bought from CVS tested? And there is no placebo effect to a St John's Wort dream - when you have one, you will know it because its not like any other dream. Its like saying maybe that LSD trip you had was just a placebo effect and it wasn't LSD.  I can only take it maybe once every other week because tolerance builds up very rapidly.

I just started the natures bounty brand but I think I’ll switch to Perika if that’s the best as it seems to be here.

but i think hyperforin works different than Hypericin ... main reason im taking ST johns wort is cause of this study https://www.ncbi.nlm...pubmed/11526469

hypericin has crf antagonist activity helps with anxiety.

Hmm Maybe the combo of both would be beneficial

There used to be "Kira" brand SJW that was standardized to both hyperforin and hypericin, but it has been discontinued unfortunately. Hypericin definitely has nice anti-depressive properties too, but generally hyperforin has superior response. Those hypericin extracts are cheap though so one can try augmenting Perika with one of them.
