Citicoline had the most noticeable effect of all the supplements I've ever tried. And it has no side effects.

-----------------------------------------------

Citicoline was originally developed in Japan for stroke. It was later introduced as a prescription drug in many European countries. In these countries it is now frequently prescribed for thinking problems related to circulation problems in the brain. In the US, citicoline is marketed as a dietary supplement.

I agree, it is surprisingly powerful in areas I was not expecting it to help, like creativity and visualization.

Interesting. I did not even think about taking a look at this area.
As my doc explained, citicoline repairs and strengthens nerve cell membranes. Which means better brain electrical conductivity.

I noticed 15% improvements in 1to50 game
https://play.google....sw.b1to50&hl=en

This game requires very quick thinking and good short term memory.

I take 500 mg of citicoline in the morning and 500 mg in the evening.

Research suggests that 250mg may be more effective than more. It greatly helps me concentrate, and I'm usually unable to focus.

"Results: All 60 participants were included in the analyses, which included an ANOVA with Tukey’s post-hoc tests and t-tests. After 28 days of supplementation, individuals in the 250 mg group made fewer omission (p = 0.04) and commission (p = 0.03) errors compared to those in the placebo group. Individuals in the 500 mg group made significantly fewer commission errors compared to those in the placebo group (p = 0.03) and trended toward making fewer omission errors (p = 0.07)."

60 participants is not enough. The same with 28 days of supplementation.
The results also depend on the patient health status, age, weight, sex, diet, etc. There are more interesting studies on this issue:

Retarding Senescence of Brain Mitochondria

During aging various impairments in mitochondria from different rat brain areas occur. Intraperitoneal treatment of aged rats with citicoline at a dose of 20 mg/kg body weight per day for 1 month caused reversal of some of these age-dependent changes (Villa et al., 1993). These effects were attributed to increased availability of cytidilic nucleotides required for the synthesis of membrane phospholipids phosphatidylserine and phosphatidylethanolamine and/or to the improvement of brain energy metabolism. Interestingly, the treatment was effective in 18 month old, but not in 24 month old animals (Villa et al., 2012), suggesting that citicoline can retard but will not reverse advanced mitochondrial aging.

Having tried supplementing Choline in a number of forms, Citicoline is one of my favorites. I'm classically acetylcholine dominant and prefer this stimulating cholinergic over Alpha GPC which can be sedating (and pricey!)

Impressively it has over 90 human clinical trials - a substantial body of gold-standard #science for us to draw on in this meta-analysis.
