Just tried a therapeutic dose-150mcg yesterday and today. No cofactors but at 100% of RDA only plus a good diet wouldn't think they're needed.

I'm getting weird effects. What's going on?
1) increased body temp. I like this. Not cold when I wake up.
2) increased arousal. I'm more awake, though a little anxious, just more aware, feels odd.

Those two feel good but there are issues.
1) random joint pain (knees) and cramps. I'm going to workout tonight and I'd really be curious how that goes.
2) sensitive nerves.
3) phantom neck pain and sore throat BUT this might be placebo

Is this detoxing? Should I continue with it? The fact I'm getting effects on RDA signals to me there's some kind of deficit being rectified.

I recently went back on iodine and felt like it was great for a couple weeks. Now I'm not sure I notice it anymore. I take all the standard companion nutrients + boron, tyrosine, and even recently a little copper. Kind of wondering if I just went hyperthyroid temporarily and did some damage. No idea.

I'm very worried. 150mcg, which is the RDA. No cofactors but assuming diet is fine at the RDA amount. Effects are profound...unable to sleep, warm, etc, but cognition is really good. I need some help here if you know anything. Do I need cofactors at my micro dose? Am I detoxing? Is that even real?

I'm skeptical that 150mcg RDA would cause such big effects unless maybe you are hashimoto's and need to avoid iodine entirely. I have no idea though.

My thought is that I've been in deficiency for some time?

My cognition is great on iodine. The anxiety is manageable and possibly worth the boost.

Your thyroid is not ok most likely. Go do an TSH, FT3, FT4, Anti TPO, and Anti TG test.

Yep I suspect I need to. Truly bizarre. Only thing I can think is something was wrong with the supp.

I definitely have experience with thyroid issues so wanted to respond.  I'm post menopause, 59 and been taking thyroid medication since 2014 (Armour Thyroid).

What you describe is exactly what happens with too much thyroid hormone - elevated body heat, possible insomnia, weird body sensations.  It took me a long time to find the right dose of Armour for me.  I kept going too high and then too low.  My functional medicine doctor was concerned for awhile but it all finally worked out.

I tried a very tiny dose of Iodine about a year ago, I think I was trying to boost brain function after reading that small doses could help.  I took a ridiculous small dose like one or two drops of Lugo's.  And just that tiny bit sent me into hyperthyroid misery for awhile.

Even a small bump in thyroid hormone can create some pretty weird symptoms.  Just back off and let your body rest.  You might have some insomnia for a couple of days but most likely, everything will calm down and get back to normal.  Stay away from any other supplements that are stimulating.

I doubt you did any permanent damage (but I'm no expert in thyroid function).  Just give your body time to calm down. It will!

Take 150mcg E3D, see how it goes. You must do complete thyroid test, or at least the ones i pointed. Also try,

B5, and B1, as well as methylfolate and methylcobalamin.

P.S. Do an sensitive estrogen, SGBH, total and free testosterone.
