Hello all,

I'm a 40-year-old male with two boys around 10 years old. My goal is to stay active for the sake of my kids and genuinely have fun myself while doing it.

We love to play computer games and do various sports together and the thing I've noticed that bothers me most is the increased lack of excitement I have.

To be more specific, I'm talking about the tingling sensation I used to have before a sports/play event I was participating that really gets my motivation, and senses fired up to reach my limits.
To be fully alive I would say.

I get that I'm getting older, no doubt about that. My test/gh levels are slowly declining I have a few extra kilos on my waist area, but not excessively. I do sports 2-3 times a week.

I like to think I'm a stubborn person in a positive by not wanting to fully accept getting older it and just let go but to do everything on my capability to stay active and to have fun with my kids for many years to come.

My questions/thoughts are:

The tingling feeling in the stomach area is something that really used to drive me towards huge focus, flow, and motivation. I want it back as much as I can. :)

What do you guys think is the (hormonal?) effect of the fat on my stomach area and marinating my organs? In two years, I've gained 10 kilos, some of it muscle, some fat via gym training.

Can I get it back to some degree by just losing the fat from waist area?

What supplements do you recommend to get that feeling back?

What other tips you might have?

I really appreciate your thoughts.

Middle age. Midlife crisis. Happens to pretty much everyone. Don't get depressed. If we keep talking about it, donating to research, helping out, we will eventually reverse aging.

This loss of vibrancy or excitement is multi-factorial. It is not just hormonal. Because we age slowly, we have a hard time noticing how our brains age. All of our senses decline in function which makes the world seem more dull.

Fight through it.

Losing the fat will help to a small degree. White adipose tissue does send out a lot of "negative" inflammatory signalling.

Some of it is also a lack of novelty.

When we are very young, everything is novel because we just haven't done that much.  As we age, we add more and more things to our experience.  It is difficult to get as excited about something you've done many times before compared to something you've never done at all or only done a few times.

Try to have more novel experiences, but try not to hurt yourself.   ;)

Maybe testosterone is declining/low. You could look into a comprehensive hormone panel, thyroid panel, NutrEval, and maybe genetic testing to better identify any issues.

You might also try a "brain reset" ala Terrance McKenna.  As I do not want to violate any forum policy, I shall let you google that if you don't know what I am getting at.
