I ordered the Life Extension 250 mg product which they get from Niagen and started taking 1 per day as directed on the bottle. Within 2 days I noticed increased energy and focus. However, after 5 days I noticed insomnia and abnormal irritability. My wife experienced the same side effects. We both stopped taking it. I noted that Life Extension is selling a 100 mg version, but they say this amount is likely not to be therapeutic. So I'm trying to decide whether to experiment with this lower dose. I've been taking 500 mg/day of trimethylglycine for years, which I read somewhere is supposed to modulate the effect of NR, but didn't seem to in my case.

I can't take the dose that they recommend, racing heart, etc.. But I do get a benefit from the 125 dose. Far less pain from arthritis, feel sharper mentally and a few other things. So I take the lower dose. I think at some point I may be able to increase the dose, but am fine with the effects I am getting. Would like more, but you take what you can get.

Hi mate,
Try to start with a lower dose 125MG and then take it from there, also consider taking NR sublingually. Read the main NR post for more details

It appears that you have B12 deficiency. Many people carry the MTHFR mutation that causes B12 deficiency. Take large doses of activated folate and B12 when taking Niagen.
