When NRK1 is KOed, NAM failed to prevent liver damage. Intercellular NR/NAR are crucial for health.

This study might hold the key to NR mystery. We have been puzzled why NR has better anti aging effects than NAM even though the bioavailability is extremely small. My theory is cells that lacks NAM recycling capabilities are staving for NAD+. The little amount of NR that gets into these cells can boost cell function a lot.

Thanks for posting this interesting study Mike. The Really Big Money gets interested. In this press release the  focal point seems that people may have a deficient NR intake and that Nestle will be willing to help....
