Anyone noticed that Resveratrol has been studied as an Interleukin-6 IL-6 Inhibitor?

And I noticed the Chinese have asked for testing on ill COVID-19 patients with an IL-6 inhibitor with a medication made by Roche?

Could Resveratrol help with the serious Cytokine Storm some patients with COVID-19 Coronavirus patients sometimes experience?

Anybody willing to apply for a Research Study?

The Chinese were looking at an IL-6 Inhibitor for testing on some of their Coronavirus patients.

I can find only one study that cites Resveratrol as an IL-6 inhibitor:

I think a lot of things inhibit IL-6: E.G. Ginkgo Biloba

https://www.frontier...018.00518/full (the EGB treatment group had significantly reduced levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-6)

https://www.ncbi.nlm...ubmed/17392580 (The results showed that EGB could significantly <snip> inhibit the protein and mRNA expressions of TNF-alpha, NF-kappaBp65)

https://cardiab.biom...11-49/figures/5 (Ginkgo Biloba extract reduces high-glucose-induced endothelial adhesion by inhibiting the redox-dependent interleukin-6 pathways)

Not sure about the role of IL-6 in the progression of Covid-19, but there is a very recent and  interesting paper,  (Coronavirus disease 2019–COVID-19  by K Dhama, K Sharun, R Tiwari, S Sircar, S Bhat) discussing the potential therapy routes that brings up the following:- ‘ The later stages of coronavirus induced inflammatory cascade are characterized by the  release of pro-inflammatory IL-1 family members such as IL-1 and IL-33. Hence, there exists a possibility that the inflammation associated with coronavirus can be inhibited by utilizing anti-inflammatory cytokines that belongs to the IL-1 family ‘. In the paper ‘The Role of resveratrol in prevention and therapy of cancer: preclinical and clinical studies by BB Aggarwal, A Bhardwaj, RS Aggarwal ‘ Resveratrol has been shown to have the effect of down-regulating products of genes such as COX-2, 5-LOX, VEGF, IL-1, IL-6, IL-8. So Resveratrol could be an interesting compound to follow up. – Anybody want to comment or try??

just my plebian mind going about....

but things that prevent a viral infection from taking hold in the first place might be the complete opposite of what might alleviate symptoms or make it easier to survive through late stages of the viral disease

and early stages and late stages might be very different too. in the early stages it might be a good thing to have your immune system go crazy, but then it might start killing you. I'm talking in general, not specifically about covid19

so I would think resveratrol would be looked at mostly to try and figure out something stronger and more specific and more practical rather than loading up syringes of Resveratrol into someone who could hardly breathe

if I have anything unique to contribute it's that Selank does seem to immediately alleviate cold symptoms after administration, maybe it's just me tho, and this article is rather weirdly translated but it does seem to increase IL-6
