Hoping to benefit from the expertise of people here.

I was put on beta blockers a few years back due to ectopic heartbeats and racing heart.  This started to occur after a traumatic event, and it was thought to be an anxiety thing, but actually over time I realise it's affected by hormones, at a certain point in the menstrual cycle.

As a result, and after a number of heart tests that the doctors didn't feel were necessary, but I did, all of which were normal, I'm now weaning off the beta blockers.

But since being on them I have gained weight and also, I'm afraid, I have found myself reaching for chocolate much more than I used to.  I know it's mainly for the energy, but I have at times noticed that I can eat a lot of sugar, that I wouldn't have been able to before as I'd have had a sugar rush and felt ill.  That doesn't happen since taking beta blockers.

I know I'm weaning off, but I'm still curious how beta blockers work and the effect on longevity.  I worry that I'll never fully get my energy back, but thankfully I do have periods of being quite energetic so all is not lost.  I'm not the same on them though and I feel I've lost a lot of muscle strength, plus every day things can really make my muscles ache.  The doctors have said this will reverse when I come off completely, I hope so.  I'm taking Co Enzyme Q10.

Thanks for any info / thoughts  :-)

Anyone?  I'm sure there are people here who understand better than me what may be going on.  I'm doing my best to reverse it and it's not easy.  Understanding it will help me to know what to do.

I joined this forum to talk to people with the same concerns as me and learn, is there any way I can improve the interaction I get here?  Am I doing something wrong?  Or should I leave now?  I can read the forum without being a member, I joined to interact.

If anyone wants to private message me please do.  Please don't doubt my commitment to this or how serious I am.
