Suggestion 1: Collective Quoting
I'm not sure if we have this already in different form and i'm just not aware of it, but what about collective quoting. This can be done either by adding two new buttons; the first [Add Quote to Reply] near the "Reply" button, and the second [Reply with Quotes] near the top and bottom where the other buttons related to Replying are. After that it would just need a small script to combine the codes for each selected quote.
Suggestion 2: Quote Notification
This idea has been with me for awhile and i believe it could be rather simple to implement it into the forum. Plus I'm sure people would like it since it allows for knowledge of whether you're being quoted regardless of whether you're following the thread.
Condition:
Someone [User 1] clicks on the Reply button on a particular user [User 2] and posts a comment
Effect:
User 2 gets either an email notification and/or an automated notification through PM of the link to the topic and a short or full preview of the message contents through email. This effect would also be dependent on if User 2 has already subscribed to the Topic. It could also just be another option to subscription in cases of minimal interest.
Not exactly sure of the necessity of it...
