Recently, nVidia released their CPU card, the Tesla C1060. This card alone allows for a normal desktops PC to become more efficient than some small super computer cluster, and for less than $2000, this is a pretty big step to making large amounts of processing power widely available and economical. This is fantastic new for life extension technology because now proteins can be folded MUCH faster. It's amazing to think back to just 1999 when the top of the line was a Pentium 4 or something? Now you can buy a card that turns your PC into a super computer. What will come in the next 10 years?

that GPU card is not worth it.
for that money, you can easily build around 3 PCs with 4 GPUs each (9600gso).
that would provide way more PPD than the Tesla card.
