Here's the list for those too lazy to click through:

10. Machinery
9. Medical & Surgical Complications and Misadventures
8. Poisoning by gases
7. Firearms
6. Suffocation
5. Fires and burns
4. Drowning
3. Poisoning by solids and liquids
2. Falls
1. Car Accidents

Don't quote me on these figures, as I can't recall the sources. But apparently, in a post-industrial society, 90%~ of the population will die from age-related illnesses, the remaining 10% die from accidents or similar outcomes.

Car Accidents are always at the front of my mind, and based on that list, car accidents are the only real reasonable thing that could cause me to die early. I hate the idea of a car to begin with, but unfortunately we still live in a time where personal transportation is very important, especially if you live in a city with poor public transportation infrastructure. I believe that trains will be the vehicles of the future.

Wow motor vehicle accidents account for more than half of all the top 10's causes of death, although all top 10 causes of accidents together account for approx. 80,000 deaths per year in the US. Not much really, considering the numbers of people that get killed by diseases.

Surviving a tragic accident only to suffer a lifetime of disability is a dreadful thought.

Ha definitely. I'm laughing here just from imagining a few scenes concerning these top 10 accidents.
