Basically, I dont feel hungry. Or it is very very controllable - I feel hungry, decide to cook something, and then when its been cooked - dont feel hungry anymore and eat it with great difficulty. Normally, its fine - I weight 150lb and can get 2500kcals if I try, but I am going to the gym and need to put on weight - and need to eat a lot lot more (I am hoping 3.5kcals - I dont mind putting on some fat, overeating is better than undereating an I can loose weight easily and am young).

Any supplementation that can induce hunger?

Pantethine

Pantethine, a somatostatin depleting agent, increases food intake in rats.
Abucham J, Bollinger-Gruber J, Reichlin S. Department of Medicine, Tufts-New England Medical Center, Boston, MA 02111.

During the course of studies of the effects of pantethine, a cysteamine precursor known to deplete tissue concentration of immunoreactive somatostatin, we observed that the subject rats continued to eat despite marked distension of the stomach. To determine whether this effect was caused by drug-altered food intake, we have measured food and water intake in pantethine-injected rats in the fed and fasting state. In three separate experiments, rats allowed free access to food until the morning of study showed significant increased food intake accompanied by an increased stomach content (at 4 hr) of both food and water following the IP injection of pantethine. In one experiment, intake at 3 hours was 0.60 g/100 g b.wt. (pantethine dose 0.74 g/kg b.wt.) and 0.64 g/100 g b.wt. (pantethine dose 1.47 g/kg b.wt.) compared with 0.24 g/100 g b.wt. in saline-treated animals (p less than 0.05). In contrast, pantethine, 1.47 g/kg b.wt., when administered to overnight-fasted rats, significantly inhibited food intake (3-hr intake 1.54 +/- 0.16 g/100 g b.wt. in rats injected with pantethine 1.47 g/kg b.wt. as compared with 3.3 +/- 0.21 g/100 g b.wt. in saline-injected controls). The intake-stimulating effect of pantethine in ad lib-fed rats was not demonstrable when the drug was administered shortly before the "lights out"-induced feeding at night. These findings indicate that pantethine, a cysteamine precursor, stimulates food intake in satiated rats, depending upon the stage of circadian rhythm, but is inhibitory to intake in fasted animals. We postulate that the effects are mediated directly or indirectly through the disinhibition of central appetite-regulating somatostatinergic pathways but, since cysteamine also inhibits dopamine-beta-hydroxylase, an effect on depletion of appetite-regulating central catecholamines cannot be excluded.

Look into its effect on somatostatin for hints as to why this happens.

Supposedly Hydrazine Sulphate can produce a significant reduction in pain, a feeling of euphoria, increased appetite, and improvement in general well-being. I plan on posting about this and trying this out myself. I am to understand that it is very cheap and non-toxic at low doses. Would you like me to keep you up to date on this Mckal?

I am very interested in things that induce hunger. My stomach is very sensitive as it's healing from some severe damage. mj works, but I have almost a day of downtime (mental fog) after smoking.

It's an effect of lithium, not sure of the mechanism. They use it to treat annorexia.

That would be great.

The problem with me is that its not that I cant eat. Its that I dont enjoy eating, its a chore to eat and I dont crave food whatsoever. I feel hungry but I dont mind that state of being - the idea of eating feels a bit disgusting once I reach a certain level of hunger.

I'd rather not smoke mj atm, I am looking to improve concentration and motivation so that wont help me there :)

Thanks guys. I will read up on ginger and order some extracts soon.

I'm not trying Hydrazine Sulphate because I want to increase my appetite because in spit of all the vomiting I still enjoy eating, I want to see what it does for pain. But if I note any increased appetite I'll let you know, or for that matter if it doesn't I'll let you know so you don't have to waste your time trying it.

Eating used to be both a chore and very painful for me. This ended up being because of celiac disease.

Whenever I eat foods I am intolerant to I fill up very, very quickly (which includes foods beyond gluten for mr). You may want to look into some minor food intolerances if you're filling up that quick.

Tea works for me, probably by speeding up gastric emptying rate. I take it plain without sugar (sugar will affect gastric emptying).

Actually it is quite easy if you have a doctor willing to prescribe it. There are two drugs that contain cannabis that are commonly prescribed:

* Marinol
* Nabilone

Other appetite stimulants (medications):
* Periactin (Over the counter in Canada!)
* Ketotifen
* Pizotifen

There is an excellent appetite stimulating supplement that contains the following:
Devils Claw, Gentian Root, Ginger Root, Thyme, Alfalfa, water and alcohol.

It's a bodybuilding supplement and I don't like advertising individual products, but if you really want to know what it is called PM me.

well, cannabis is the best thing ever, but any antihistamine will do it. cyproheptadine is used for anorexia.

Starving can make you (or many people) do very bad things more than anything else even dying. But drinking a lot of fruit/veggie etc juice is a good way to induce hunger. Coffee if you wanna do the opposite.
