As this forum is all about immortality id like to talk a wee bit about humans and robots.

First of all we humans are mortal and we are seeking the path to immortality so we can live forever !

As we go down this path to immortality, you have to realise the problem of over population because of the way humans work. We breed !
Because humans breed uncontrollably really, we are always going to need more planets to be able to live on. Breeding means we have to live on
other planets if we are to gain immortality indefinitely. At one time or other in the near future, earth is going to be too overpopulated period.
We cannot escape that fact of our humanity because governments world wide are not able to stop breeding by law because breeding is
part of the normal human life. We cant stop breeding when the world has too much population. That is a flaw us humans have to deal with
soon.

Now lets look at robots for example. lets say we were all actually robotic by nature made of high grade materials and filmskin coating. Robots
dont breed ! What robots do is they build more robots by hand when they want, and not creating out of having sex like with humans.

At one stage or other if humans are to achieve immortality we have to look at the possibility of having massive operations on our bodies to be
able to cope with the changes we are going to face. One of the things we are going to face is food shortages so if humans are to survive there are
two ways we can continue living without food :

a) Create pure energy packets that we can make out of thin air that is used to replace food to provide us energy
b) massive operations on the body that refit the human with the capacity to live without food !

This is the only two ways I can think of that we can continue living without food. Back to what I was saying before, we also have to live on other
planets in the future and as we can see out in the universe not many planets so far near us are like earth. The only ways a human can live on other planets
as it is right now is :
a) Humans create atmospheres on other planets to simulate earths habitat (very very hard work)
b) Humans undergo futuristic operations on there bodies to be able to live on another planet that does not have earths atmosphere

So far ive given you two examples that humans are going to need to transform into something more in order to continue living, and that brings me onto the topic of robots.

Right now we have robots out on planets like mars for example that have been for years living there without support from humans except from a distance. So right now we know that robots CAN live on other planets where as humans cannot. Isnt the future for humans much more eaiser if we were to transform ourselves into robotic type creatures, rather than continue living in a disfigured apelike body that has been modified to continue living with future problems ? We could just say simply right now that our goal was to create the perfect robotic body that could house a humans mind via a robotic muscle so we could live on other planets. Doing this means we could live on any planet we choose other than those with violent storms.

This opens up much more gateways for humans if we could create the perfect metal type structure that could self survive in almost every situation you could think of.
Lets look at the benefits of being robotic over continuing the human body as it is.

1) Robotic bodies are normally made of high grade metal materials that last for very long periods and can also be replaced in an instance throughh easy operations.
2) Robotic bodies can adapt to tons more planets right now at this time. humans right now have got no chance on every planet but earth .
3) Robots dont have to feel pain as we do. Robots that feel pain as a lower signal than we do are safe from the problems we humans face due to abuse of pain.
4) Robots dont struggle when they run out of energy, they can replenish it at any time , humans cant last without food and water !
5) Robots are stronger and more fitter and dont get ill like we do.

Robots period are much more adaptable to live in our universe than we are. Think for example the possibilities of being able to ACTUALLY go out searching in the universe for other habitable planets because your physicall capabilities allowed it.

I personally think that to be able to survive in our universe we have to hand over the human form to that of robots that are built on the principles of humanity or at least some principles of humanity so that we can still survive too :p

What do you think on this topic of immortality ?

Robots still need an energy source. Unless you use nuclear reactions to break down the atoms in the air, it's physically impossible to make energy out of thin air. It would be more feasible to use solar power.

The robots we have now are pretty vulnerable. They can't get sick like we do but they can get computer viruses. Also they break when they get wet or exposed to strong magnetic fields.

That said, if future robots were more resiliant, I wouldn't mind being a robot or similar synthetic being. Though, I'd still want to look and feel human.

Yeah it would be pretty cool being super human ! You are right though, robotsd still need a power source however they dont get ill like humans do when it starts to run out !. Its just a case of making sure energy is replenished.

One of the downsided to being a robot is you loose the softness of a human but im sure in the future we can create robots that are built that way :)
