POINT OF ORDER

Moderator-- Why would you remove a simple forwarding link to my forum on this topic? Would you reconsider? Help on this matter please.

The argument I would make is that maybe a few of your readers enjoy my approach-- and so ought not I be able to reroute eyeballs to my line of thought without threat of editing? thanks for your response. Several moderators-- please respond.

Leading Japanese Economist: Write-Off All Toxic Assets, "Or the World Will Come to an End"
Send to friendPrinter-friendly version
April 9, 2009 (LPAC) -- A leading Japanese economist, Daisuke Kotegawa, currently the Executive Director representing Japan at the IMF, has called for an urgent, simultaneous, government-sponsored inspection of all the major banks, to evaluate and write down the entire gambit of securitized products. These toxic assets should either be valuated at zero and taken over by a "bad bank," he said, which would return funds to the original bank only if the assets proved to have some value in the future, or written off by the banks themselves. Only if and when a bank could survive this process, should a government infusion of funds be considered. The current bail-out policies can do nothing to cure the crisis, he insisted.

Kotegawa presented this policy at several university presentations in the U.S. in the past month. In the 1990s and early in this decade, he was in various leading positions in the Japanese Ministry of Finance, where (he told a recent gathering at Brookings) he was considered the leading enemy of Finance Minister Heizo Takenaka, the primary architect of the Koizumi regime's disastrous privatization and deregulation policies.

Kotegawa argues that any approach to a bad bank which buys toxic assets from the banks at a discount, rather than taking them over at zero price, will eventually simply transfer huge debts to the taxpayer. He says that banks must be forced to conduct a self-evaluation of these assets, under federalguidelines, but that this must be followed by official inspection by government authorities, since left alone, banks have no incentive to honestly disclose assets, adding that lack of cooperation by banks should trigger criminal charges of executives.

This approach echoes LaRouche's demand for an FDR-style bankruptcy protection for the entire Federal Reserve system, coordinated with similar policies internationally, saving the chartered banks while allowing the creditor counterparties (mostly hedge funds and similar speculators) to collapse.

Kategawa noted that if this approach is not taken soon, then a vicious cycle between the financial sector and the real economy will be unavoidable. If the bail-out insanity continues, he said, or if the foolish global currency concept to dump the dollar for SDRs is pursued, then the dollar will soon collapse, and that will be the end of the world.

Yes, I split the thread into two parts. Cryonics in times of a financial crisis is an important topic, thanks for bringing that up for discussion. But all the troll-style parts of it - along with personal attacks, suspicions, accusations and insults, textual shouting - and the replies to these posts are split off to another thread.

You're misinterpreting. When I use caps, I'm not SHOUTING-- I'm EMPHASIZING. Using caps is easier to emphasise than italics.

You're notion of troll is invalid because anytime I look it up, it's definition keeps growing to include anything that a mod doesn't like for whatever reason. The word troll was never used in anything in publishing before the interent. It's actually an insult becuase you're assuming what my MOTIVE is. And you're flat wrong.

So I now demand that you withdraw your accusation of my motive as being a troll. Many people in cryonics KNOW who philossifur is.. .and I simply can't let that accusation stand. Withdraw it.

Suspicions? WHAT suspicioun? How in the world am I supposed to write without posting my view? Mere suspicions are not allowed? I SUSPECT you're that you are grooming the forum for newbies and outside press-- in a way that makes it "look good" to YOU for public presentation. However, you remove the INTERESTING features of it, moderating it and sanding it down so that it doesn't convey character anymore. This is typical of what I SUSPECT is your sort-- oritented to what you think is math, digital thinking and programming.

Personal attacks? On who? Pseudonymns? Wouldn't they be PSEUDO-personal attaciks. Attacking a pseudonymn hardly constitutes a PERSONAL attack. Besides you didn't list PRECIESLY WHICH attack made you unfortable.

Accusations? Like what? Insults? So I can't call you a lousy editor? Well, you are. And so are the rest of the editors and readers here who allowed this thread to be busted up, cheapened and moderated out of existence practically... except the one guy cryofan who at least has a sense of honesty enough to object.

I always assumed that with time, progress would allow people younger than me to be smater than I was when I was their age, but this is turning out to be NOT true. What is occurring here as well as on other blogs, forums etc.. is a form of mental prep for fascism... And you'll make a very good youth enforcer, oberon. You really need to study NAZI history. You've overdone it here. There was no need to remove the visitor list and your imposition of guilt on me for your imagined motives constitute an Imminst KANGAROO COURT.

What you REALLY ought to have done is-- if you wish to moderate-- use SOCRATIC dialog-- and question the poster so that poster is forced to reveal his own motives and support them. You're just LAZY in that regard. It's EASIER to delete, accuse and walk away-- a form of mental murder-- stab the offender in the back and leave him the ditch. Don't engage him in a conversation. I mean, you might learn something. And THAT might force YOU to change YOUR view a bit. Can't have THAT happen can we?

I expect you'll delete this. On the other hand, what would happen if you just left it alone? My question is-- Can I reform the nazi youth at Imminst? How's that for an accusation? Can't let that stand huh?
