Per the suggestion of the internetworking team, I created a banner that shows the progress in the fundraising thus far. This was my best effort on a short time scale. If anyone else is feeling creative, put something together and we can alternate banners to keep things fresh. The standard banner can be no larger than 728 X 90 pixels (most of our current banners are this size). If it is smaller then we can add a border around it.

Any other suggestions on wording or style, let me know.

The banner I created should appear in these forums: Immortality Institute, Bioscience, Vendor Area, and Lifestyle. Sometimes it takes a while for our banner software to update so it might not appear until later tonight.

Any other suggestions on wording or style, let me know.

I'd suggest adding the following items to the banner:

• Besides displaying the total amount raised, there should be some sort of progress indicator.
• It would also be helpful to add the deadline to create a send of urgency.
• "Click to donate" should stand out more than it does now.

If that's too much info to display in the current design, the laser image could be separated from the text and placed in one half of the banner and the text would go in the other half.

It could use further improvement though. How about using the grant goal and the amount-raised-so-far info in a progress bar like Wikipedia's? The text would have to be smaller, but it would be more eye-catching. The donate text can be simplified (i.e., "Click here to Donate") and highlighted in white text or turned into a "Donate Now" button.

The "DONATE" button on the banner fly-out should red instead of black to attract more attention.
