Williams mystery still looms

Estate executor: Cryogenics would have satisfied Ted

BY PETER KERASOTIS
FLORIDA TODAY

Everybody agrees on one thing.

But only one thing.

Had the great Hall of Fame baseball player Ted Williams simply stated in his will that he wanted his remains cryogenically preserved, his revered name wouldn't be making the types of headlines it still does today, some 20 months after his death.

"So much headache and trouble could've been saved if he had just changed his will," conceded Al Cassidy, the sole executor of Ted Williams' estate. "And he didn't do that."

But in an exclusive interview Saturday, Cassidy said that while Ted Williams wouldn't be happy with the litigation and infighting that engulfed his three children following his death, he would be happy knowing where his remains are.

By the way, you may enjoy reading about Rep. Linda Lopez and her
willingness to stick her neck out in the AZ House for Alcor and cryonics.

I'm especially struck that Mr. Cassidy didn't have to go public with his assertion that Ted Williams wanted cryotransport. Because he was closer to the family situation than the elder daughter and son-in-law who have been protesting TW's presence at Alcor, his word should carry more weight than theirs.

Considering the older daughter's behavior in recent months, maybe TW had reasons for cutting her out of the loop regarding his desire to be cryosuspended.
