I think there should be a forum of Israelies too, under the forum of Regional.
Me too from Israel, I managed to see quite alot Israelis over here.
Ilia, I think there are some Israeli groups connected to the immortality subject, quite new if so to say, but that's at least getting somewhere, I seeked for it over the internet, unfortunately I couldn't find it.
Alex, are you sure you checked you are the only Israeli person who is interested in that? because I managed to see few hanging around...

Hi, Alex and Infernity. I also believe there are more than the three of us, but they are "underground". A couple of years ago I heard about "Physical Immortality" branches in Israel, but they seemed to be largely involved with diet and meditation. An Israeli forum is an excellent idea.
Alex, as to your previous question, I finished high school in Russia. I did, however, study at the Technion for a while. I knew its Biology department was somewhat interested in aging research. Prof. Gershon did some very significant work on oxidative stress and aging, and Prof. Gepstein discovered some sort of plant longevity gene. Is there anything new and exciting going on over there?
Ilia.

Ilia,
There is a section of Israel now in the regional: http://www.imminst.o...s=&act=SF&f=181
Now, I can tell you there are more Israelis over that site. exept you two I think I've seem four more!
Moreover- I read over the news paper about a month ago about some Israelis whom developing the idea of researching in order to receive physical immortality. I should have post it over the Israel forum :\ ... unfortunately I couldn't find the article or anything about it on the internet...

Unfortunately Prof. Gershon has retired, there are certainly some new and exciting things going on in the Technion. A new staff member whose research focus are stem cells joined the biomedical faculty this semester (Which is a first to that faculty). I can tell about my departments – The new physics building have been opened last semester and it is gradually occupied, The Biophysics lab of prof. Erez moved there last week, I have been there and it looks very nice (They actually have a whole biophysics complex). The nano center is soon to be opened with prof. Uri Sivan heading it (it is expected to perform some biophysics research as well) and the ee nano center is on the way.

What did you studied? When?

Sasha. :)

Just found a couple of new Russian sites:
Questions of Immortology:
http://imquest.alfas.../index_html.htm
Includes Prof. Gavrilov’s book “The biology of Life-span”, Prof. Anisimov’s “Molecular and Physiological Mechanisms of Aging”, Elie Metchnikoff’s “Etudes of Optimism”, lots of articles by Prof. Skulachev.
A brand new Library of Gerontology:
http://biblioteka.starenie.ru/

A Couple of short surveys on the history of Russian Gerontology:
“Apology of gerontology”:
http://www.kommersan.......34529&rid=9
Interview with Prof. Pavel Vorobiev:
http://www.ng.ru/hea...erontology.html

Does anybody know of any other authoritative works/materials on the history of Russian Gerontology? Thank you.

Privet Ilya! Thanks for the links. Question: is there anything related to the life-extension movement going on in Kiev, Ukraine? (I will be traveling there over the summer)

Thanks, Alex!
You should probably also add the site of the Russian Transhumanist Movement, perhaps even in the first place:
http://www.transhumanism-russia.ru
They are doing a fantastic job!

Hi, Braz!
Yes, sure. Kiev is a great center of life-extensionism. The former USSR largest Institute of Gerontology is located there, and massive conferences on Immortalism are regularly held in Kiev. Check out these reports:

http://www.transhuma...-forum-ukraine/

http://www.transhuma...t/view/209/147/

I just PM’d you a couple of contacts. When are you going there?

Allbest

http://www.transhumanism.ru/ (link No 4 in the first post) is no longer valid. It is taken over by a cybersquatter.

Thank you, Leonid! Fantastic report - korotko I yasno! Interesting, the report says Russian gerontology is coming back. It's a little hard to believe, after everything Russian science has been through. Or is it?
