I'm a healthy, 22-year-old male. No genetic family history of varicose veins, and I run roughly five miles a day.

Roughly three months ago, I began using the three arginines as a pre-run supplement to increase my endurance (I run off-trail). Today my doctor diagnosed the previously unnoticed lumps on my lower anterior tibial veins as varicose.

I'll be getting ultrasounds next week to find out if this is restricted to the superficial veins or if my deep veins had become engorged similarly.

Since compounds like arginine and nicergoline dilate various veins, is it a medically valid possibility that use of these compounds worsened the elasticity of my leg veins?

L-arginine will worsen PAD over six months.

Theoretically, yes, since CVI / varicose veins need vasoconstriction and not the linear route of further dilating the veins more.

You can try local topical application of aescin to your legs or other veiny parts along with dressing them up to prevent any further dilation.

could a bit of chronic vasoconstriction - maybe, with low dosage caffeine - help him out?

Use a combination of 900 mg aescin (horse chestnut) with hesperidin.

Pycnogenol also helped my mother. I imagine any one of pycno/hesperidin/diosmin would work similarly.

I wonder if this is why I get mild but annoying pains around my lower extremities from using Gingko?
Years ago it didn't bother me but now.... eh?

As far as I know, vasodilators should not worse varicose veins. Since you are just 22, I would suggest that you do pay special attention to vein health. Try taking a vein supplement like Vein Matrix. They consist of well-researched nutrients and herbs like horse chestnuts, vitamin C, butcher’s broom, etc. This will help strengthen the valves that align blood vessels that are responsible for pushing blood back towards the heart. Vein supplements help support vein health, which is often neglected. If you begin now, with proactive measures, you may be able to avoid the later, advanced stages of aging veins.

Pycnogel (Pine bark extract) induces nitric oxide production and vasodilation: http://www.ncbi.nlm....pubmed/18037769

How Pine bark could be good for varicose veins if vasodilation is not good for that?
