Jacque Fresco is no doubt one of the biggest thinkers of our time. His ideas are not only ahead of our time but revolutionary.

It is my recommendation that we contact him for three reasons:

1. To interview him
2. To introduce him to cryonics (I believe he deserves to be cryopreserved and see the future)
3. To get him associated with the transhumanist movement and beliefs

I'm not good at writing letters so I'll need some help on this.

PS

For those wondering, I don't associate the Venus Project with the Zeitgeist Movement and other conspiracy junk. Jacque Fresco's ideas from a social engineering perspective are truly genius and by no doubt will we head to that future (post singularity).

What is Jaque Fresco's interest field and what does he do?

He's an industrial/social engineer and a futurist. The best way to get to know him is to simply watch the documentary Future by Design (it explains everything, and trust me its worth a watch):

Future by Design - Part 1

Smaller documentary - Past, Present, & Future of Mankind

Btw, ignore the fact that some have related the Venus Project to Zeitgeist.

How can you ignore that given the fact that the Venus Project has a "get involved"Zeitgeistmovement button on its site??

I like the Venus Project, but I personally don't want to associate it with the Zeitgeist Movement. When I introduce it to newcomers I don't want them to think it's some sort of conspiracy theory site.

From what I know, the Venus Project only agreed to work with the Zeitgeist movement out of a desperate need for publicity. Zeitgeist itself ain't bad either, but it's got a sort of negative reputation for being a huge conspiracy junk site.

Great news. Jaque Frescos contact person, not sure if it was his wife, secretary, etc.. just called me, Jaque is reading the Scientific Conquest of Death right now she says, and he is interested in being on the Sunday Evening Update.

Man, that call was exciting for me. Mind must feel this way all the time. Im setting up an appointment for Mind to contact them about a time for a show.

Mark this on your calendars and get ready to help us promote this show. Lets go in to places where his follower are and get them to come to the show. Lets also try to interest him in engaging ideas in the forum.

Im having a hard time finding any clear points on why these designs are so much better. I think it may be just that people over look obvious little tweaks here and there, and that hes talking about becoming all around efficient.

This VIP Outreach has also contacted Larry King, and I find, ironically to me at least, that Jacque Fresco here was interviewed by Larry King in 1974.

This is extremely exciting! I can't wait for the interview!

I really would like the whole community to get involved with this, this is the second time I think we'd be interviewing another futurist.

Oh, and turns out that the woman I talked to, Roxanne Meadows, is his partner in creating the Venus project.

If we are able to schedule an interview, it will have to be the 27th of December at the earliest (if it is on a Sunday) or more likely early January.

WRT Zeitgeist, I wonder if Jaques is aware of the Zeitgeist conspiratorial diatribes and ravings. Their website comes off as something new-age-ish and scientific, but you dig a little deeper and you have quite a few conspiracy theorists that seem to be running the show. I don't like the idea of promoting possible conspiracy theories but I think we could focus on the Venus Project while avoiding any appearance favoritism or link toward Zeigeist.

I was chatting with David about imminst conferencing. If TimeShip releases anything this summer, we were thinking we could see about coordinating the two, kind of like we did with Convergence 08.

Then I was thinking about this Jacque Fresco interview. Timeship is round and built with the future in mind. Fresco is a futuristic city designer. He has read SCOD now and seems at least generally interested in the subject. He wants to do the interview. Hes getting pretty old, I think he's in his 90s.

Im wondering if we should consider tailoring a show to see if we cant get him more interested in TimeShip. He could become a sponsor for it, he could get involved with the construction details, he might become frozen, he could possibly become a spokesperson for TimeShip, etc... All of those things arent right there on the horizon but it seems like they are all pretty good possibilities.

The TimeShip could release new announcements this summer? I can't wait! I've been waiting for years to see new advances on this endeavor. Besides the book Architecture of Immortality (and it's website) there is almost no information on the TimeShip anywhere. For a such a huge and expensive endeavor, it's highly secretive.

Anyway, combining the two (getting Fresco to endorse the TimeShip) also seems like an excellent idea. Maybe he can even reserve a spot in it.

Jacque was NOT very welcoming to the idea of cryogenics whatsoever.

To be honest, I found the interview disappointing. First off 90% of the things Fresco said were direct quotes from his films (he doesn't seem to be able to create any new arguments). Second, he had no interest to talk about life extension, cryonics, etc. By his tone it looked like he probably opposed them! I find the philosophy of the Venus Project highly fascinating, but Fresco has no new material. He's been going around advocating the same things for 50 years without updating or evolving his own views. It seems all that Fresco cares about is leaving behind a legacy (ie his movement) rather than actually helping people through technology.

I tried to pry out some new ideas about cryonics, technology, and life extension, but they didn't have too much to say. Sorry. I didn't want to keep hammering the points.

The Venus project is interesting and presents a possible path toward a more bountiful and peaceful future. Just wish they had some newer takes on advancing technology and such. In the end, they seemed like nice people and I wish Jacque and Roxanne success in using technology to bring about positive change.

You did a great job. And I agree with all your points. I think Fresco is too concerned with his own personal agenda of getting the Venus Project known to the world rather than creating a sound social idea. Then again he is 93 years old, so at this point he just wants to get his message heard.

We should still email them asking what they personally think about death, and if they have any desires to avoid it. From the interview it seemed they tried to avoid personal questions, and focused more on their movement. Overall, I was kind of hoping the get to know them better individually.

All in all, it went well and I hope we can collaborate more with them in the future.
