Beware. I wonder/doubt why MIND is leaving but I've just discovered that immortalityinstitute.org points at churchofimmortality.org and that there is a series of such connected websites with similar names. I'm afraid there a sect that grows on the back of imminst. Beware in case it's not a bad joke (not mine!).

It appears these are just parked urls, not active organizations.

Yet, despite such extraordinary (transhuman? ;) ) devotion+skills it seems that this organization hardly further increased the already increasing media attention and research for life extension and related causes. I wonder if this is because of the non mainstreamness, or because a website-based association is insufficient to operate for this task, or other reasons.

Web traffic and revenue has grown well over the last couple of years. During the last 8 months, the average unique visits per week has gone up from 30,000 to 40,000. Imminst now has enough revenue to support minimal research every year, as well as part-time employees, and other outreach initiatives. So things are going pretty good for an org with "immortality" in the name. I could not say if the media presence of Imminst has grown more than general life extension awareness but I would estimate that we are at least keeping pace. During my tenure, there were no metrics in place to gauge growth, but I had personal goals of web traffic growth and revenue growth year-over-year, and that was accomplished.

Thanks for all your comments AgeVivo!

Thank you very much for all you have done on my behalf too, from the help for Imminst.org in general to personal help with registration and related stuff.

Is there any specific area of cutting-edge research I should be aware of Imminst funding?

We will be providing small grants for research again this year. An announcement should be coming in the next week or two. Look for it in the forums and on the home page.

Mind, you're one of the reasons I keep coming back to this forum. I really appreciate everything you have done. Please stick around until we have indefinite lifespan.

Hey Mind,

So, I had noticed some chatter months ago that you were stepping down, but I figured that a mixture of your own perfectionism and the entreaties of Board members and general membership would conspire to wear you down :|w . I guess this ongoing thread means you really are moving aside, yes? I'm sorry to hear that: I haven't followed the Board's actioins, or the movements of the .org as an institution, very carefully (as in this example :|o ) but you dedication, professionalism, and reasonableness have always been clear.

Is htere a post somewhere outlining what you see your future involvement to be, and who and what will be endeavoring to fill the wake behind you?

Thank you, IAC, for all of your past and future efforts. Live long -- live young!

Thank you for all your hard work Mind! We have truly appreciated it over the years.

Also, now that you have brought it up, thank you to you as well Caliban. This place would not be the same without you, and I think your re-election reflects what people here think of you and your contributions.
