I cant figure out if either of these companies test for the SNP's covered by the genomic test by Holisticheal.com, Comprehensive Methylation Panel

The panel from holisticheal covers the following:
ACAT - 1 SNP
ACE - 1 SNP ***
AHCY - 3 SNPs
BHMT - 4 SNPs
CBS - 2 SNPs
COMT - 3 SNPs ***
MAO A - 1 SNP ***
MTHFR - 3 SNPs ***
MTR - 1 SNP
MTRR - 6 SNPs
SUOX -1 SNP
VDR - 2 SNPs ***
SHMT - 1 SNPs
NOS-1 SNP ***

*** Data available on SNPedia.com

Can anyone fill me in on this? I'm more interested in getting a thorough review of my genetic methylation status so if neither 23andMe nor DecodeME covers all these SNP's I guess I have to get the holisticheal panel...having to pay $500 for 30 SNP's versus 500,000 would be a little aggravating though.

Are you saying you want to be tested for 500,000 SNPs even though you can't really use that information. I mean no one is treating anyone for all those SNPs.

No, knowing those 500,000 would only be informative for me to change my diet/supplement regime based on any increased risk factors. I already know I strongly undermethylate and am taking methylfolate and b12 injections, which is why I'm more interested in those said SNP's.

Do you know the exact name of the SNPs? I can search for them in my raw genome data.

Alright, I will look for these. It might take me a couple days because I am in my final year on my ph.d and we have a large deliverable coming up next week. For the record, 23andme.com has most SNPs. They, however, are lacking a few (such as APOE), but I suspect most of what you're looking for is in the data they provide.

I've already found some interesting things about myself. For instance, I have a polymorphism that makes me a bad converter of beta-carotene to retinol. As such, I now take a cod-liver oil supplement and eat liver semi regularly.

It seems to have cleared up some dry skin issues I was having.

I managed to find some of these in my 23andme data, they are in bold. If you know any rs ids for the missing SNP's listed with a '?' let me know and I can look them up.

COMT = Catechol–O–Methyl Transferase
V158M rs4680
H62H rs4633
61 rs769224

VDR= Vitamin D Receptor, Taq\Fok Abnormalities
Taq rs731236
Fok rs10735810

MAO A = Monoamine Oxidase A
R297R ?

ACAT = Acetyl Co-Enzyme A Acetyltransferase
102 ?

ACE
Del16 rs1799752

MTHFR
C677T rs1801133
3 ?
A1298C rs1801131

MTR = Methionine Synthase
A2756G rs1805087
A66G rs1801394
H595Y ?

BHMT = Betaine-Homocysteine Methyltransferase
1 ?
2 ?
4 ?
8 ?

AHCY = S-Adenosylhomocysteine Hydrolase
1 ?
2 ?
19 ?

CBS = Cystathionine Beta Synthase
C699T rs234706
A360A rs1801181

SUOX = Sulfite Oxidase
S370S ?

SHMT = Serine Hydroxymethyltransferase
C1420T rs1979277
NOS = Nitric Oxide Synthase
D298E rs1799983

So of the ones I could determine rs ids for VDR Taq, CBS A360A and SHMT C1420T are not included in 23andme data.

MAOA
R297R - rs6323

MTRR
H595Y - rs10380

are the remaining two easy ones. both are covered by 23andMe

Has anyone found this testing to be meaningful?

I've found it to be helpful. I got hit with a lot of info and it's taking a while to sort it out. Helped confirm some things for me.
I also found two second cousins and an uncle living within 30 minutes of me :-D
