3,500 uM/L x 368 g/M = 1,288,000 mcg/L = 1.288 ng/L = 1288 ng/mL  (for a single 500 mg dose)

Correction:

3,500 nM/L x 368 g/M = 1,288,000 ng/L = 1288 ng/mL   The previous post had the right answer, just screwed up units.

3,500 nM/L is from Fig 1A in "The oral bioavailability of curcumin from micronized powder and liquid micelles"

368 g/M is the molar mass of curcumin

Hi,

do you have a link to the human study showing the increased absorption with the whey micelle curcumin?

I would like to check it out, Maybe even test it to see if it activates Sirtuins like the MetaCurcumin i take.

Thanks

A

The absorption data for UltraCur which Oakman posted in a bar graph is repeated in the interview with one of the UltraCur developers. Oakman gave a link to the interview and transcribed it for us. The human data given in that interview is from their tests on themselves.

"whey micelle curcumin" - Oakman originally linked to a patent for a "micellar" formulation like the one marketed by Solgar by mistake. He subsequently linked to the proper "Solubilization of cucurminoid compounds" patent that applies to UltraCur. It does not have micelles. Curcumin is solubilized with steam and pressure and applied as a "stain" to whey protein.

Are you saying the data in their promotional literature is based on testing it in themselves? I don't want to assert that their research is wrong, but that seems very inadequate. Even if it's not peer-reviewed, I think we'd be well served by seeing the specific details of the research they're citing.

Thanks RWhigam,

Why does this remind me A LOT about this paper on resveratrol and Beta-lactoglobulin?

Maybe these guys are on to something...

Another fun fact about curcumin stained amino acid, aside from it high plasma levels, is it near 100% solubility in water. And for those that have experience with regular curcumin, and how readily it stains almost everything (open a normal capsule and get it on your hands - orange everywhere), protein stained curcumin does not stain - washes right off! So you can make a curcumin cocktail if you want...try it.

After reading this thread I ordered and started using UltraCur.  I have previously used other forms of curcumin including BCM-95 and Meriva in fairly high doses for pain relief of osteoarthritis and as an anti-inflammatory for ulcerative colitis with good effect.  But the UltraCur is noticeably/significantly stronger and because I don't have to take as much of it, it works out to the same price with greater effect.  I have tried many supplements but this is one of the best and it really pleases me that there is a really good natural alternative to aspirin and nsaids.

I also bought if after reading the thread and the initial effect was awesome, energy, mental clarity etc.. the same happened to my wife and a friend who tried it, after a few times the effects wears off, but I guess that means that the product is potent, I'm wondering how this compares to Solgar's one, that seems to be more effective (around 60% more plasma concentration).

Hi everyone,

Is there anyone here who would have tested the NAC binded formulation of UltraCur ? Is it really Curcumin binded with NAC or is it "just" the regular UltraCur mixed with NAC in the same capsule ?

Thanks
