Should ALCAR taste salty?

I have recently ordered 500 grams of ALCAR from a supplier that is repeatedly recommended on this forum and I'd like to know the following. ALCAR has a very strong sour taste and although this ALCAR does so too, it is combined with a very distinct salty taste. Is this normal?
