Glad you went to a lung specialist and were thoroughly tested. Sorry it didn't work out. Not sure what MB is.
A Chinese remedy for excess mucous especially in the lungs is to eat steamed barley. Get some uncooked, hulled or pearled barley. At the health food store it would likely be in the bulk bins. At the supermarket, it would likely be with the uncooked beans, split peas and stuff people use to make homemade soup. You cook it like rice with salt and water BUT you have to use a lot more water and cooking time than the package will say. Just double or triple it. Sorry, I can't find my recipe. Make a lot of it. It tends to taste like cardboard. To improve the taste you could add orange or tangerine peels, vanilla, cinnamin, ginger, anise, etc. Then you eat it warm, possibly for breakfast. You can add warm, unsweetened almond milk. Eat it every day or every other day as much as you can take. It will help remove the excess mucous from your lungs. It can be powerful.
Another thing that might help is to take a capsule of curry powder once a day. I would get a few ounces of curry powder from the bulk spice section at the health food store, so it won't have MSG in it. Then you have to get some empty gel caps, the smaller the better. If you can obtain the baby ones online those are good, or just get whatever you can, O or OO. If you get the baby caps, fill them up. If you get O or OO, just put a pinch or two of curry powder in them. The powder will stain, so watch out. Take ONE capsule a day, after a meal, preferably a meal with fat or oil in it. Don't take it after 6:00 p.m. because you will get weird dreams. If this agrees with you, it can help to break up the mucous. Oddly enough, it also helped my friend with his martial arts performance. But do not take more than one a day. It it doesn't agree with you, stop.
I wrote a thread in the nutrition section called Resources for Chinese Medicine or something like that. It will tell you how to find a good acupuncturist and how destructive drinking cold water is, ESPECIALLY for excess mucous. It sounds crazy but it's true.
Make sure not to consume sodas, cold drinks, cold water, energy drinks, sugar or to take steriods. Don't do anything to stress your health or your lungs. If I were you I'd get a glass-lined thermos or thermos carafe and plan to drink a lot of plain hot tea all day long. (You can decaffinate any tea by steeping it it a little hot water for one minute and then throwing that liquid out. The caffiene will be leached out and then you can make decaffinated tea from that teabag) Pu-erh will be best, but green or black tea will help. A good brand of thermos carafe is something like Zoriuchi(?) brand from Japan. It may be available in gourmet cooking stores. Tempo makes glass-lined thermoses, but they may leak, so watch out. I got one of those in a drugstore. Eat a hot breakfast everyday.
Limit any toxic exposures. Do not use pesticides. Do not use lysol or room spray. Do not use incense. Don't get a lot of dust or foreign materials in to your lungs. If you have to, you can clean your house with baking soda.
If you don't have health insurance, I would find a good acupuncurist and do that. If you have health insurance, you can investigate the possiblity that there is an infection or parasite with a specialist in infectious diseases or tropical medicine, or even another pulmonogist. Or you can go the natural route and get rid of the mucous that the critters may be living on and try to get rid of them that way.
You might want to take off the gray lizard mask. That might help. ;-)
I hope you can find my thread about Chinese Medicine. I was thinking about you and I will continue to send you my best wishes for a complete recovery.
