From our good friend and Imminst member Gavrilov:

Greetings,

I am pleased to alert you about the upcoming event at the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) meeting in Boston, which will take place this Saturday, November 19:

GSA Interest Group meeting "Societal Implications of Delayed Aging"
(starts at 5:30 pm in Room 207 at Hynes Convention Center, Boston, on Saturday, November 19)

This event is sponsored by the SENS foundation, and Dr. Aubrey de Grey will be one of the key speakers there.

Also here is one additional topic to be discussed at this meeting:

Demographic Consequences of Defeating Aging
Abstract:
A common objection against starting a large-scale biomedical war on aging is the fear of catastrophic population consequences (overpopulation). This fear is only exacerbated by the fact that no detailed demographic projections for radical life extension scenario have been conducted so far.
This study explores different demographic scenarios and population projections, in order to clarify what could be the demographic consequences of a successful biomedical war on aging. A general conclusion of this study is that population changes are surprisingly slow in their response to a dramatic life extension.

Maybe a good chance of Longecity members in the Boston area to attend and kind-of "influence" the gerontological way of thinking. Less aging and death. More health and rejuvenation!!!
