Nelson Abreu (born Lisbon, Portugal in 1982) is the student representative of the Society for Scientific Exploration, and an electrical engineering undergraduate at the University of Florida where he founded the 200-member Science of Self Club that organized three colloquia on consciousness studies since 2003 at the University of Florida. Abreu has presented at the 6th Toward a Science of Consciousness conference and is a contributor for the upcoming books Anthology of Extraphysical Experiences (International Academy of Consciousness) and Filters, Sensors, and the Source of Reality (International Consciousness Research Laboratory). The local publication contributor has been experiencing conscious out-of-body experiences since 1999, including at the 2004 Projective Field experiment and at the Center for Higher Studies of the Consciousness laboratories in Iguassu Falls, Brazil.

Pedro Machin (born Zaragoza, Spain in 1983) is a Computer Engineering student at the University of Florida. A well-rounded, avid and open-minded science reader, Machin is skeptical of the out-of-body experience as an objective reality, but has been intrigued by it since meeting his fellow Iberian Nelson Abreu. He is interested in how those who research and experience the out-of-body experience would view the pursuit of infinite lifespan.
