Hi everyone,
Just joined the forum, but I've been reading it for quite some time now.
I wanted to share my experience with Gingko Biloba, which also introduced me to nootropics (I've been reading about them but never actually tried any until recently).
I am a recovering alcoholic (or should I say I've recovered, since I'm no longer drinking and can control myself for over a year now - before I was drunk pretty much every day for ~2 years, of which I am very ashamed), and this extract truly helped me with my memory.
So, I've been taking a regimen of vitamins (B complex, E, C, D3 + Magnesium) + fish oil (DHA, EPA), mostly because my diet is terrible, and one day I stumbled upon this supplement called Vitrum Memory, which is basically just Gingko Biloba extract. It says it helps with the memory, and I've been pretty bad at remembering or recalling things (names, words, specific details, even faces - hard to remember). And I was pretty good at recalling things in detail before I started drinking, so maybe the effect is like a cleanup/refresh of my brain rather than an enhancement.
After two months of taking 2x60mg pills every day (as per instructions), I can now remember words, phone numbers, web addresses, book titles and other details with one look and recall them pretty fast later on, as well. I can also think of, say, a specific cylinder head, and remember its components in detail - even have a clear image of them right in front of me, which is pretty amazing (and helpful in my job).
So, yeah, definitely worked in my case. I'm planning on increasing the dosage for a short while to see if it's better/worse and trying some other suplements/nootropics, as well.
I don't see much talk about Gingko Biloba, so I decided to share my experience, maybe it can help others, too. If you have anything to add, or maybe recommend something, please do share your thoughts.
P.S. - I'm not a native English speaker, so I apologize if any sentence sounds weird (I do think I have a good grasp of the language, though :-).
