Anyone know a good source for brand name Wellbutrin SR?

I've heard the generics can be a bit hit and miss so am keen to try brand name. Is brand SR even still available? I know you can get brand name XL version.

Sun Pharma Wellbutrin SR is OK but I'd like to see how it compares.

Branded Wellbutrin SR is made by GlaxoSmithKline. It's still available in US pharmacies and internet pharmacies. It will cost a lot more than the generics, as I imagine you know. I've heard that the various generic controlled release bupropion products don't have the same level of patient acceptance as the branded equivalent, although they are all supposed to have passed bioequivalence testing, which involves measuring the pharmacokinetics in a number of people. Might be something to that, I don't know. Considering that it's off patent, the branded drug is still insanely expensive.

Many thanks for the response niner.

I know the brand name is considerably more expensive but would be interested in trying it to compare against the generic I'm currently taking.

Aurapharm sells the GSK - XL version, 150mg, 30 tabs for $32 which I know is a very good price. I haven't been able to locate anyone selling brand name SR version.

Do you have any suggestions for sources supplying the SR version?

Wow, I'll say that's a good price. Drugstore.com, which is representative of the American price for uninsured people, is $231 for the same thing. I guess uninsured Americans will just have to be depressed...

I saw the branded Wellbutrin SR at Candadrugs.com. Drugstore.com charges $230 for 60 tabs of 150mg SR, which saves you one buck over XL, as you need to take SR twice a day, but XL once. Interesting pricing structure there.

I don't know if either of those would ship to the UK.

Thanks Niner.

I'll check out those sources. Think I'll probably end up ordering from Aurapharm as it seems an insanely good price for XL.

I looked up GSK in India and they don't list Wellbutrin anymore so prob not sold there anymore. Only Sun Pharma is listed as official manufacture. You can try clear sky pharmacy, adc, or one of the other big ones if they have some left. Btw, XL is a really expensive alternative to the SR version and I think the only difference is that you have to take SR twice daily vs XL ones daily. XL was probably launched to get an extension of the patent or something.
