Can somebody familiar with these two herbs make a short comparison, please.

I have been using brahmi for the past 2 months and have just started with rhodiola. Since both herbs make my more alerted and focused, I'm not sure if it is OK to use both of them in the same time.

Are these two herb almost the same in effect, of both of them have their own advantages?

I'm also taking ashwagandha in the morning and one before going to bed. It really makes me sleep better.

Thank you for help!

Bacopa monnieri is primarily serotonic in action activating the 5ht1a & 5ht2a receptors. It has a dissociative effect from NMDA antagonism but seems to improve focus in a meditative sort of way. Depletes dopamine & norepinephrine levels somewhat & is a very potent protective agent for the brain in general. I take 2-4 grams of the herb in tea form. Eating the powder is stronger but hard to get down.

Rhodiola rosea is an MAOI a & b inhibitor, COMT inhibitor, CYP3A4 inhibitor, ACHE inhibitor, stimulates endorphin release, contains an incredible amount of anti-oxidants, & improves the permeability of the blood brain barrier by inhibiting p-glycoprotein. What this translates into is that rhodiola disables a lot of the bodies detoxification mechanisms and allows a build up of dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, & acetylcholine to occur while mildly stimulating endorphin release providing a very awesome state of energy without anxiety. Rhodiola feels like it may elevate hormones as well but this could easily be a downstream effect from the heightened neurotransmitter levels. It has a ginseng like effect as well, very reminiscent of the better red ginsengs I have tried but a lot more centered & cool. Boosts caffeine to incredible levels. I usually just drink 1-2 teaspoons rhodiola without any caffeine actually, I find it is a great replacement without taxing my body like caffeine can.
