here are the results:

total test: 349 (range being 250 - 1100)
free test: 87.5 (range 35.0 - 155.0)

is this low for a male, 23 years old?

if so, how low is it, and could it be at least a cause for the depression/anxieties i experience?

Free testosterone is mid range, which is all that counts, and it seems your score is good.

Low T can cause depression and anxiety but your score does not suggest this is the case. If you want to boost testosterone anyway to see, try LongJack (aka Tongkat Ali). Now brand sells a good TestoJack 100. Also try zinc supplmentation.

thanks for responding. i figured my score was low given my age (the range is for all ages) and since ranges tend to be calculated based on non-disease versus non-optimal...but looks like it's fine, you're saying.

i was actually hoping you'd saying it was very low, so that i'd be able to say "oh, that's why i'm feeling bad, i'll just raise it and life will be good again".... but this is more an insight into my psychology than my test levels :)

tongkat ali.... i may give this one a shot. does it raise test levels sustainably? (as in, will my test levels just drop after taking or, or does it work more like an adaptogen?)

anybody heard of "free and easy wanderer" or "Xiao Yao Wan"? it's a chinese herbal concoction that is said to regulate hormonal levels.... my herbalist friend recommends it for me, and was curious if anybody on these boards heard about it.

Was the blood drawn in the afternoon? Morning levels (within 2 hours of getting up) of total testosterone are usually almost double the afternoon levels in young men. It is morning levels that matter for the sake of determining if your testosterone is low(ish) or not.

it was taken around 9:15 am. i remember b/c the doc told me to get it before 9 and i was anxiously monitoring the time.

PS: i took a blood test for total testosterone, also taken in the morning, around 6 months ago, with a similar result.

is free test more indicative than total?
