Curcumin/Turmeric MAO-A Half-life

The spice, Turmeric, has many active ingredients in it, including an MAO-A. However, I could not find any studies or literature pointing to the exact substance that causes this effect. The bio-availability variability is an issue when it comes to exacting the exact amount of the MAO-A and it's effects, but leads me to believe this may interfere with various stimulants at any turmeric dosage.

What do you guys think?--
  • How long is the MAO-A's half-life?
  • What neurological implications,[if any] ,come with pairing turmeric with stimulants (e.g. caffeine, nicotine, theobromine, amphetamine)?
  • If curcumin helps to prevent neuronal-apoptosis, yet acts as an MAO-A, wouldn't that be counter productive due to neurotransmitter oxidation?

All I can say is that I've taken a resverotrol supplement that also contained tumeric/curcumin almost daily for months/years, and combined it with things that would traditionally be contraindicated by mao-a use. I was totally fine. It seems that the mao-a action of curcumin, if it does exist, is very mild

I've taken Curcumin along with Wellbutrin and it greatly potentiated the Wellbutrin effects. I was more energetic then usual and felt very happy, almost euphoric. Other times it just gave me a headache. I don't think it's a strong MAO-A inhibitor but just to be safe take it 2 hrs apart from any prescription meds.

Can you give source where it said that turmeric contains MAO-A?
