Hello,

this is a forum idea rather than a forum issue. I wonder how complex it would be to implement. The goal is to
-create expertise threads
-increase Longecity funding
-increase Longecity credibility and advocacy

The idea is to create a forum for paid members that is called "The Expert Place" (for exemple). Any thread created there would appear in a forum that is accessible to all, paid members or not, but with a decay in time and in a read-only fashion. In the "recent topics" section it would appear with a high priority compared to other threads. The content should beclearly scientific, otherwise it would be moved to another forum.

That way,
- the desire to participate in the discussion or to read it without decay would be a strong incentive to become a paid member, especially for experts (who are the first ones to want to react to other experts): we will increase funding (paid membership is not expensive but there will be more paid members) and strenghten expert communities
- those thread will by construction be very presentable: scientic, mostly with comments from experts, motivated and acquainted persons. Showing them in the public area will be good for the image of Longecity, in particular in google and in the "recent topics" feature.
- somehow my hope is to make Longecity more able to act for the cause: get higher levels of recognition by decidors and experts, get more money to advocate for the cause and fund research initiatives.

Technically, the website has to create read-only public threads based on "expert place" threads. I imagine that this could be done in adding a "if" in the php: "if" the current page is "recent topics" wither filter on "expert place" only, then randomly pick one of those threads and [delete and re-]generate the associated read-only public thread. Such a feature would be activate then whenever someone goes to "recent topics" with a restriction on "expert threads".

I am currently too busy to implement that feature but that could change in a few weeks or months. Also perhaps that feature or a already exists in ipb, I don't know. In any case, for now it is simply an idea, a proposition; to be discussed and only tempted is there is support for it.

Best,
AgeVivo
