Hi,

So until a couple of days ago, I was against the idea of taking any sort of racetam. But after doing some research and reading reviews etc...I decided to try it out. I was going to start with piracetam, but since I live in the UK, it was hard to find a UK based source as those can only be obtained on prescription. My final year uni exams are starting on the second week of May, so I really need something that will enhance focus, increase alertness and retention ability. I was thinking taking the following:

Oxiracetam 650 mg - 2 pills
comprehensive multivitamin - 2 pills as recommended. Didnt try it yet, its called source naturals life force
fish oil - 1 pill

as for the choline, there is 50mg present in that multivitamin, will that be enough?

I don't think anybody can say with certainty exactly how much choline you need - you need to feel this for yourself. Tune into your body and try to listen to what it wants.

It is possible that you do not need more choline, I am one of the people who tend not to suffer any negative consequences for not taking additional choline with racetams.

If you do lack choline, your body will likely try to tell you - if you feel like eating soft boiled eggs or cheese, chances are you could use some more choline.

Hey, thanks for the reply....just received oxiracetam this morning and I'm too afraid to try it. I bought this from intellimeds.co.uk, they seem legit, but its not the problem. Although it says oxiracetam on the slip, who really knows whats in it since it was bought off the internet, I think I'll just put in the trash. Well, I guess all I got from this whole experience is £20 down the drain.

And this wasn't something you considered before deciding to purchase a chemical off the internet? Perhaps you could benefit from using racetams more than you think :P.

Oxiracetam was the first racetam I tried and I think it's my favourite. It was the most noticeable for me (apart from noopept). But it gave a very pleasant vibrancy to everything, improved my enjoyment of music, made me more focused, made me type and think amazingly fast and with words I don't normally use and it made my thoughts kind of race as well. I felt a definite change in cognition. It also improves caffeine. You can feel very alert and focused, perhaps even euphoric, but without jitteriness.

I would recommend it for studying. I bought mine from intellimeds.co.uk if that helps. Oxiracetam is quite well tolerated and even if you get no effect, it certainly won't harm you. So I don't see any point in throwing it away. You might as well try it. The worst that can happen is you get a headache.

Would you know more about exactly what was in it if you bought it from a shop? Do you actually know with 100% certainty what is in the bread or juice you buy from the supermarket? You still do not have direct access to the manufacturing process. The horse meat in lasagna would be a case in point.

If you still don't want to use what I would suspect is perfectly fine oxiracetam, I am sure somebody else might be interested. Instead of throwing it away, auction it on eBay for slightly under the price you paid.

Correct. Only difference is, horse meat isnt used to treat Alzheimer's disease or any other condition for that matter. This substance, oxiracetam, it has an effect on the brain, supposedly helps you focus etc even if you dont have any sort of cognitive impairment..you've got to ask yourself, if its so effective and safe, then why isnt it widely available? why it is that the big pharmaceutical firms don't actively market this product as being the closest to the pill in the movie Limitless?
Ironically, I still didnt throw it away, but certainly not close to trying it either. I'm thinking to myself, I'm fine now, what if I cant even put a sentence together after taking this substance?

All I can suggest is for you to read up on the substance as much as you can. There are studies available on pubmed that should give you a good idea of what effects it has. When coupled with subjective reports such as those you can find on this forum, you will get a decent overview of what to expect.

Obviously, if you still feel hesitant, that is alright. It wouldn't be worth the worry if you are anxious about side effects.

Anyway, what is very clear is that it will not have effects anywhere close to what the movie Limitless is portraying - there are no drugs that can provide that kind of thing. The closest would be modafinil, but I would never take that given that it is eerily close to an amphetamine.

I have not tried oxiracetam, but I have tried the following, and none of them have caused significant side effects, certainly none of them have caused cognitive impairment, quite the opposite. However, I have felt positive effects from some of these substances. Here's a short summary of the effects

Salmon oil (greater fluidity in thinking, reduce lethargy without giving a 'boost')
Cat's Claw (no perceived effects)
Mucuna Pruriens [Dopa Mucuna] (no perceived cognitive enhancement, 'tingly feeling' in body)
Piracetam (increased focus, boosted mood, great synergy with salmon oil, ginkgo biloba and caffeine)
Noopept (so far only a slightly spaced out anxiolytic feeling, no cognitive enhancement noticed except possibly slightly improved memory)
Aniracetam (pleasant mild anxiolytic effect, enhanced focus and energy)
Ashwagandha (mild, calm, clear-headed feeling, seems to help reduce fatigue)
Curcumin (improved digestion, skin... tasty when mixed with curry, coconut or olive oil (I use it as a bread spread instead of butter or margarine)
Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola) (calming effect, levels mood, increased clarity of thought at the right dose, sedative at high doses)
Bacopa Monnieri (Brahmi) (no perceived effect)
Sulbutiamine (removes effects of not enough sleep, increased motivation, slightly increased libido and better focus)
Melatonin (does exactly what it is supposed to, i.e. makes you drowsy and helps induce sleep)

DMAE (increased energy and mood, but after reading reports and theories on how it acts in the body, I have stopped taking it, as it's not worth the risk if those theories are true)
Huperzine A (greatly increased brain transmission speed, possibly mood boost as well, but reports on risks make me not want to take this except on an occasional basis)
ALCAR (increased energy and endurance, improved mood, no perceived side effects - but a recent study reported negative effects on meat eaters and omnivores due to having different gut flora than vegetarians)
