Hi-
I know most of us immortalists pursue a low iron diet but I (actually a friend of mine) has the opposite problem - she takes 4-6 iron supplements a day with Vit C but still has trouble keeping her iron levels up. The doctors can't figure out where her iron is going (excreted vs stored). There are other medical issues at play but I was curious as to whether the community knew of supplements that might affect iron chellation, transferrin regulation and the like.

Thanks in advance.

Hard to tell without details about the other medical issues you mention, but she might want to look into iron synergists/antagonists to see if she takes a lot of the latter. For example, drinking a lot of coffee will make iron uptake more difficult. Also lack or abundance of certain other minerals will have an impact and so do some B-vitamins.

Also note that stomach acid levels should be within the normal/high range for iron to be properly absorbed, folks who take lots of calcium and magnesium typically have lower levels.

More on this and other good info can be found on acu-cell dot com (sorry, I'm not allow to paste links yet), you can find all the minerals and vitamins to the right. If you can't find it, drop me a PM and I will send you a link.

Thanks very much! That's helpful. I did not know the site you "linked" to but, despite the lack of sources, was about what I was looking for.

Best supplement I can prescribe for a guarantee in iron and heme is 2-4 grams l-glycine taken in two daily doses with 12.5 mg p-5-p and 400 mg of any form of magnesium other then threonate(wich is actually the preference but the doses of magtein differ from normal mags significantly with 2000 Mgs magtein mag l threonate yielding only 144 Mgs elemental )

And make sure too hydrate on a " heavier" level with just pure water before bed every night for the first month on the glycine /p5p/ mag cycle ......... It will heal anemia and most women would feel its effects once a month and rejoice in effects as well
