My apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
I've been searching and researching for some time for answers related to my question, but as all of you know, the field of nootropics and improving/rep[airing cognitive ability goes so deep, I am usually in way over my head in a very short time.
So, I hope that however it may pain some of you, that we could re-hash some discussion here that surely has taken place before.
My issue is that I am an otherwise healthy 34 year old male, except for the fact that I feel my memory is that of an 80 year old. I have trouble remembering literally anything. Now that I have small kids, when I try to think back a few months ago to what they looked like (how they've changed since then) or what they were doing, my memories are something like a very faded dream that I can hardly recall. I seriously have trouble picturing the faces of my own children from the last 6 months.
This holds true for older memories as well. When I try to recall my childhood dog that I so dearly loved, I can hardly form any concrete memories what-so-ever. I just feel like I am swimming in a haze that I do not know how to get out of.
I have had no major brain trauma to speak of, or anything like that. I consider myself to be of slightly higher than average intelligence and I exercise 4-6 times weekly.
My experience with nootropics is limited to Piracetam/Choline sources (Alpha-GPC and Citicoline) that I do not feel have been very effective. I've been reading about other nootropics, but it seems some are suited better for visual/auditory acuity, for which I have no real concern for.
I would love to be able to try some kind of products that would help either repair or greatly improve my memory and my capacity to form new, vivid memories. This has become almost a source of depression for me as it seriously pains me to not be able to remember what my two year old looked like last year when he first started walking, and things of that nature. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
